We were going to find out the genders at our 20 week ultrasound next Monday, but I had an ultrasound yesterday due to some cramping. While they were in there, they discovered that both babies are girls! (Didn't get a pic, but I know what I saw... no turtles in sight just two sets of three little white lines!)

My DH and I had both thought it was going to be a boy and a girl - I don't know why. I have 3 brothers, no sisters. DH is one of three boys. I guess due to all the testosterone on both sides I never thought it was a possibility that both our babies would be girls! I am happy, since I did always want a daughter. But, I am also apprehensive, since I never grew up with sisters, and don't know what it will be like to have two girls, let alone twins!

Overall, I am so thankful that both babies look healthy and cute and right on track in there. And I do love to sew and bake and do girly things, so I am looking forward to that. I think it is something I will need to get used to, like when we found out we were having twins in the first place. If you have twin girls, what do you love about it? Thanks for your help/letting me vent. :)

I was SO apprehensive when we found out we were having twin girls - we had 4 boys at the time... and I LOVED being a mom to all boys! In fact, I knew I'd feel more "comfortable" if it turned out to be twin boys (as I had made the comment several times how little girls scared me!).... We actually found out they were girls AND that we were having twins all on the same day (talk about quite the info to digest)...
My girls just turned 4 months and all I can say is... YOU ARE GONNA LOVE IT!!! Coming from someone who never felt the "need" to have a little girl - I have just been in heaven since they were born :) I love dressing them up (and shopping for them - LOL)... putting bows in their hair and seeing my older boys treat them like little princesses! It is so incredibly fun and plus.. you get to do fun little photo shoots like these:
    Girly photo shoot
    another one...

I say embrace it and BRING ON THE PINK! :)
    HUGE CONGRATS TOO :)

i'm still worried that we have two girls! :D i'm pretty tomboy-ish so if they both turn out to be princesses or divas i don't know what i'm going to do with them. although, with me & my DH as parents they're probably more likely to end up as total nerds & i don't know if that's worse... :umm:

    YAHOOO for girls!!! Congratulations!!
I *thought* I wanted boys so badly UNTIL I had my little girls :)
I love bows, flowers, dresses, the color pink, baby dolls, barbies, sparkles, glitter, tutu's and everything girly now!
When I was too much of a wuss to leave the house in the first couple months I would play 'dress up' with them & have photo shoots in all their cute clothes ;)

I thought I wanted boys till I had my first girl. Now after having 4 girls, I LOVE them. (Although ONE boy would have been nice somewhere...)
There's NOTHING cuter than dressing twin girls!

i don't have 2 girls, but was hoping for 2 boys when i was pg....i had NO IDEA how much i would enjoy the flowers and the bows and the frilly clothes, and recently discovered the wide variety of shoes available, even for toddlers! i seldom admit it outwardly, though! (i always say how much i enjoy boys' clothes cuz they look like little miniature men!)

you're gonna love it, and your DH is going to fall in looooooooove like you won't believe

Holy cow, you sound just like I did when I found out. I have three brothers, dh has one, no sisters for either of us. On top of that, a very large majority of my cousins are male. We were in the same state of shock when we found out it was two little princesses.

Life with two girls is AWESOME!!

Having two girls is the best! Girls are so much fun to dress up! I haven't gotten to an age where mine express an opinion on what they wear, so I have so much fun dressing them with big bows, flowers and dresses! I love love love having girls!

If you want to get in the "girly" mood go to any store that sells baby clothes - the baby girl section is huge and has so much variety of cute stuff and the baby boy section always seems to have so much less to choose from.

When I was pregnant but didn't know the genders I knew I wanted at least 1 girl after my first look at the baby department at Old Navy. Once I saw those cute baby bikinis I knew I wanted a girl!

    Two girls are wonderful!!!!! Congrats!!

Like you, I had no idea what I was going to do with a girl, much less two. My husband's first words---"Girls will be the death of me."

Well, we've both survived and it's been excellent! I have never seen my husband so loving in all my life. Our girls are the absolute apple of his eye. I am not the most fashionable person in the world, but I love dressing up my girls. And they aren't all that girly either--they love to put on ballerina skirts, act like they are putting on makeup, and then they'll go get in the mud and rub it all over their faces. Having girls are more fun than I could have ever imagine and you'll have a blast. I think the best is when they try to mother each other or me or my husband. It's so funny to see little mommas in the making changing diapers and putting babies in time-out. It's so cute!!

Congrats! Girls are SO much fun! You get to dress them up and put cute things in their hair or on their bald head, either way:) They can share clothes and pretty much everything so they naturally have a huge wardrobe of adorable outfits that can make any mother jealous. It's hard to explain how fun it is, but you will LOVE it!

LOL, contratulations! Laughing because you are having the same reaction my husband and I had when we first found out we were having two boys (we were initially hoping for girls) but now we are SO excited we are having boys. I think both have their advantages, and now we are really looking forward to our boys and wouldn't wish they were girls.

I think part of my initial preference is the only little boy I spent any time with is a literal spoiled brat hellion- not his fault, he is a sweet kid, but but his parents don't believe in any sort of consitancy or discipline. he (at the age of three) hits people, smashes his face and hands in people's food, grabs and throws things, runs around, doesn't listen, ignores what he is told, breaks adult objects he is told not to touch (all while his parents sit back and laugh at all the bad things he does) Whether or not it was fair, that was what I 'expected' was normal for litle boys (only grew up with my sister, etc.)

What helped me come to terms rather quickly, and be happy/glad that they are boys (and glad they aren't girls) is one of my best friend's sister has two fraternal twins. My husband and I spent some time with him, and were pleasantly surprised at how wonderful little boys, twins, at that, are when they have consistancy and discipline. These two boys are SO sweet, love their mother and their aunt, and by all means they aren't perfect angels ,but they are FAR from the hellions **** is. I think we now have a better realistic view of what little boys will be like. It hink the most adorable thing is seeing what good friends these two little boys are to eachother!

My suggestion woud be to you, if you haven't, make time/ask women you know to spend time with them and their little girls. I have no doubt that if/once you for you will melt for the behavior and tendancies of the gender, though there ARE always tomboys, too ;) Just an idea that might help you get used to/look forward to having girls, even if they do end up being 'girly girls' ;)

Congratulations on your two girls!

What do I like about having two girls? Hmmm. It's hard to put into words. They're just so wonderful. I guess I could compare them to my one boy and talk about how much easier girls are in the younger years. ;) My girls are some of the most energetic and spirited girls I've ever seen but their curiosity level can't even compare to my one boy. If Dax had been a twin, I don't know how we'd be making it through the toddler years.

I just had to laugh when I read your post subject line "What am I gonna do with two girls!?" because I said those IDENTICAL words to my husband when we found out they are girls. Exact. Same. Words. Lol! We have all boys, (son and step-son are only 8 months apart in age, so everyone thinks they are frat twins to begin with!) and I grew up in a house full of huntin' fishin' police, firefightin' manly men!

Look at it this way, it will be something TOTALLY and completely new for us. I love doing all those girly things too, and I'm starting to get excited about buying something that doesn't have cars on it for once!
    Keep us posted!

I felt the SAME way!!!!! I already had 3 boys and while I kind of wanted to see what a daughter was like, I secretly wanted more boys - I think because I "knew" boys (having BTDT 3 times!) but OMG!!!! THESE GIRLS ARE PERFECT!!!! I thank my lucky stars everyday that they are girls!!! I have had SO much fun with these 2!!! YOU ARE GOING TO LOVE HAVING GIRLS!!!
and the daddy thing --yep it's the sweetest thing EVER!!!!!

    CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!!
