    ...SOLIDS!
How fun to experiment with all the new flavors and textures! I'm excited to have fun with this new milestone!
We have done the single grain cereals for a month now, DD likes to spit and the Doc thought that would help. (It did, a little...)
We tried carrots and oatmeal this morning and the babies lapped it up like it was candy!

Doc says to get them to eat 1/2 cup of cereal each twice a day! That seems like a lot to me. She also said not to count fruits and veggies toward this goal, that any of those foods were secondary and should not be counted towards the cereal goal. This also sounds weird to me.

Um, wow that is a ton of cereal for a 4 month old baby to consume. I think that amount (if they would even eat it-which I dont think their stomachs can handle that) would definitely interfere with their formula/bm intake and therefore not give them the nutrients they need each day. That is my honest opinion. I dont think my boys (who were huge solids/formula eaters) would have been able to each a cup of cereal per day until maybe closer the end of the first year and that is just a guess. I dont mean to be rude, but are you sure that you heard her right??

That does sound like a lot of cereal. My girls started with just a couple of tablespoons. That is awesome that they are taking so well to the solids!!

I have it in writing. I thought it was a typo!
    Sounds like waaaaay too much!
At any rate, I get them to eat 1/4 each per feeding but I'm not even trying to push more than that on them.
It HAS to be a typo, IMO. Right?

Yay for solids!!! I wouldn't push more if they aren't wanting more. They will let you know when they are full :)

There's no way mine would eat that much - even now. I used a formula scoop (nutramigen) for cereal and would put 3 or 4 scoops if they both were eating.

I pretty much just feed them until they either turn their heads away or start spitting out more than they swallow. LOL
We just have fun with it. It hasn't made them want less BF sessions either, yet any way. Nor has it helped them sleep at night either. Ah well. Someday Mommy will get some sleep and wear clean clothes to work again.
    LMAO
