I let Mattie fall off the bed this morning  . I had the girls sitting in the middle of our bed w/ pillows all around the edges. I do this every morning and I was in the closet getting something out to wear (I can still see our bed from there) and I heard the thud, and then the cry. I got to the other side and she is laying face first on the ground. :( insert cry here. She quit crying and I moved her arms & legs and felt her sides. She bumped her nose and I think she bit her tongue, but other than being very clingy, SEEMED fine.
I took her to the daycare and they said that they were sure it was nothing, but they would watch out for her and call me if anything unusual happened. Is there anything particular I should look for?

I cried all the way to work... :( Please tell me that others babies have rolled or fell off the bed too.

Well Seamus never fell off a bed but what I did to him was horrible. I was carrying his infant seat and I was bringing it from his bedroom into the family room and when I went to place the carseat on the floor, I basically through him right out. THe handle was not center...it was a notch back so when I set it down, it was basically vertical and he plopped right out and landed on the floor on his face. He cried for a few mintues and then he was fine. I cried more much longer.

I dont know if this helps but I know this has happened to many people. You are a great mom. Have a great day and try not to let it upset you!

Just a few weeks ago I put Chase on the couch in the boppy, started getting stuff organized on the coffee table and felt something on my leg ... he had rolled off and went headdown off the couch. He started bawling but he was just shaken up.. I felt terrible! It happens though, to the best of us. :hug99:

James twice and Sean once. All three times I had laid them down on the bed and turned to get wipes (which are literally right behind me on the dresser) and Boom, onto the floor. Now I grab the wipes first!

I let Emily roll off the couch once when she was about 5 weeks old. I was so torn up I could barely dial the phone to call my mom to freak out on her. Emily calmed down a lot faster than I did...don't beat yourself up, I'm sure she'll be fine!

You are not a bad mother! Last week I had to take the babies to the doctor because they were sick. It was a nasty rainy day and I was alone. I had Hannah in the Snuglie and was carrying Jack. I was trying to get them both out of the rain quickly so I put Jack in his car seat without strapping him in. Big mistake! He fell out face first onto the van floor. I felt so horrible! I was right there in the van when it happened. I was just trying to be a good mommy and get them out of the rain. It happens to everyone and we are still good mothers. But I know how you feel because that day I felt like a bad mom.

Natalie fell off the bed last month when I was putting Eli on the bed. She fell between me and the bed! She was startled a bit and cried, but she's ok.

Once for each of ours. James rolled off the couch when was only a few weeks old and I cried for days! You'd think I'd learn my lesson, but the same thing happened to Jonathan about a month later. I had him propped up in a Boppy with pillows all around and our dumb dog wanted to play with him and pulled him right off. I cried forever over that one, too!

My DD fell off the couch 2 days ago. I too had her surrounded with pillows and she was, so I thought, asleep. I heard her crying. I felt so bad but I think she landed on the cushion first. Its nice to see I am not the only one.

Noah has rolled off the couch and Jacob off a trundle bed......we have all been there and feel horrible. But, the wee ones seem to forget it quickly and still love us.....so :hug99:

Brandy, John fell (walked) down 9 stairs when he was only 1. DH left the door to our old apt ajar and he follows him outside. I didn't get to him in time and he just toppled down the stairs -- It was awful. Dave heard be yelling and ran in so fast that he stopped him from falling further (there were 20 steps in all!), so thankful for that.

So you are definitely not the first to have something like that happen. :hug99: I think you are still a super mom and Mattie does too. :)

My DH fell asleep holding the girls the morning after we brought them home from the hospital, and Lydi rolled off onto the floor. I was in the bathroom at the time and all I heard was a thud and then screaming. She was fine, though.. Then the other day we were getting their 1 year pics taken at JC Penney's and Lily crawled headfirst off the platform that she was sitting on. I think it scared her more than anything, the photographer was able to get her hand under her head before it hit the ground... Poor baby!

As you can see from all the posts, you are not the only one. my oldest son fell off the bed at 9 months also. We FREAKED out! We took him to the ER and everything. Ofcourse, nothing was wrong -i cried the entire day and maybe even a little on the next. it is amazing how tough they are!

don't worry you are not alone!

Oh my goodness, I let Amber roll off the same sofa, same spot on the sofa twice. I cried and cried. The guilt you have will pass in time, but even now (now that I'm reminded by reading your post) I have this sudden smile but wave of guilt over me remembering those 2 days in particular.
