Both my kids love to read, but Ivy is really over the top. She'll sit still for one long story after another and then ask for more.

So on a whim I decided to read her the first chapter of The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe, just to see what she'd do. She was totally into it. When we got to the end of the chapter, I asked her, "So did you like it, or was it too many words and not enough pictures?" The answer: "I LIKED it!"

So we've been reading more. We read the next chapter this morning. This evening she wanted two chapters in a row, and would have kept on going, but it was time for baths.

    :woah:

Now, I have no idea how much of it is making any sense to her. I just can't believe she likes it. Dude, you turned 3 less than a month ago! :faint:

I have memory of my mom reading that book to us when I was four or five (my sister is two years younger). I remember enjoying it too. I also remember not understanding some stuff and having to ask about it - like what Turkish Delight was. I think it's great that you are reading it to her. :) It's great to learn to use imaginations without the help of pictures.

Okay, I am a little jealous. I have tried chapter books with my kids with no luck. :(

And honestly...if she didn't understand it, she wouldn't be sitting still and listening. Hmmm, I have tried lots of books but have not tried Lion, Witch and the Wardrobe (a personal fave). Hmmm....

That's neat! I haven't tried chapter books yet.

I always laugh when I find Brooklyn in her room "reading" books. She has a room full of toys, but more often than not she is over by her book basket looking at books. She loves books!
