I met a mother of 2 year old twins today at a Mary Kay party of all places! It was so cool how instantly there was a bond just because we both "have" twins. I sat and chatted with her for 45 minutes after the party trying to glean everything I could from her experiences. Here were some of the highlights I thought might help some of you too

Her twins were born at 35 weeks after being on bedrest for a month. She had experienced PTL and then developed severe pre-e and ultimately had a c-section. Her twin girls were in the NICU for 17 days and came home healthy and strong. Her story sounds similar to a lot of ladies on this board--so I thought it was important to share how awesome her attitude was about it all. She said that even though having the girls in the NICU was hard, she really felt it was a blessing because she had so much recovery to do on her own after being so sick with pre-e. She talked about how great it was that the NICU established a 3-hour schedule with the babies that they continued very easily at home which she said was a total sanity-saver.

So, I came away from that chat thinking, "there really is a silver lining to every cloud." I know some of us will end up in similar situations..but I was inspired to be really positive about whatever outcome I experience. Just thought you might need a little pick-me-up as well. Have a great day everyone.

Thanks for posting this, it is a good reminder. I know that i get worried about delivering early, and maybe having a scary NICU stay -this is a good reminder that a) I can't control any of it, and b) i don't know what the outcome will be!

It's so wonderful when we connect w/people like that!
