moisturize, moisturize, moisturize. Especially first thing out of the shower. Mine hasn't itched so bad yet, but I'm super concious about putting lotion on. then again....I have a looooonnnnnggg ways to go.

Do you have strecth marks? Is it particularly itchy on top of the strecth marks? Are any of the strecth marks crusty looking? This is how PUPPS starts. I hope you don't have that. I did, it started around 30 weeks for me, five weeks of maddening itching! When is your next appoitment? you might want to call your OB and mention it, there are some topical treatments, but they don't work for everyone. I found a cool washcloth drapped over my belly worked, but it was the hot time of year for me.

Good luck I hope it's not PUPPS! [IMG]

No real stretch marks believe it or not. Saw Dr. today and he just said to keep the area dry. I just thought maybe someone had some secret remedy...Thanks!

Just read this and wanted to give you all a little recipe I used for my itchy belly.....

    Use:

    Baking soda, and water....

Make it quite pastey, leave on for approx 1-2 hours...very soothing...

I completely feel your pain with an itchy belly. I developed PUPPP about a week or so ago. My stretch marks were really faint on my stomach. Couldn't really see them until the rash developed.

My dr said I could use topical treatments like cortaid, anti itch cream. But nothing feels better than a cold wash cloth or ice pack. It is worse than chicken pox, but don't itch it or it will get worse. My dr. said it should go away shortly after delivery, which I am hoping is soon!!!! Let me know if you find any other remedies----anything to stop the itch!!!

One of my friends gave me "Tummy Honey Butter" -- it's got all these herbs in it and such and I have no idea how much it costs, but it feels great. I'm itching early (first pregnancy, don't know how much is from my surgery and the bandages from that) and this stuff is so nice. The only thing I can find on it where it might be from is manufactured by Mother's Intuition, Mission Viejo, CA.

I've been using lotion to control the itching. It has been working well for me so far. Hope your itching gets better.

if you get puuups (sp?) remember kendraplustwo said dandelion root pills cleared it up in 3 days. I think that is what it was. I definitely kept that as a mental note.

I have stretchmarks coming up around my navel...sexy!

I´ve got a special oil I massage my belly with - I started the day I learned I´m having twins, because I really wanted to avoid having stretch marks. I think just any oil will do, I liked almond oil because of the smell, and I know you can buy some special pregnancy oil. Do you have bellybutton Stores over there? I think they sell nice stuff for that.

I made a mixture of olive oil, lavender oil and rose oil to rub on my itchy tummy.

I found this relaxing, and I also have minimal stretch marks after a huge tummy. (less than with my first pregnancy)

I have itchy belly, too. I'm prone to dry skin and with all the stretching in my tummy it has gotten very itchy. My OB recommended I use Avveno Bath & Shower Oil daily especially right after showering. I have been doing that for around 2 weeks or so now and it really helps. When I get out of the shower, I rub it all over my body then dab it with a towel and dress. It leaves my skin feeling so smooth and silky. I wish I had known about this stuff before!!! I bought it at WalMart. It's about $8 for a big bottle and a little bit goes a long way.
