This may sound gross, but the itching is driving me crazy already!! I am on strict bedrest for PROM after laser surgery and have been for over 2 weeks. I wear a pad all day every day to catch the fluid that drips, which isn't much Thank God. i change the pads very frequently - i'm so scared of getting any infections at this piont. Could constant pad wearing be causing me to itch like crazy in my feminine area? My husband said it might be a yeast infection due to all the antibiotics i took recently, but i've never had one before so i don't know what its like.....

I am going to call my OB tomorrow morning, but thought you ladies might know something that at least makes me feel better.

I found the perfume in the pads caused that sort of problem for me. Try giving them a break for a bit to see if that makes a difference.

Are you eating yogurt? That should stave off any yeasty beasties lurking. . .

Is it itching inside or on your legs and other outside areas? It could just be constant contact with the pad/underwear/bed. If it's itching inside, it might be just mental, ya know where you know that you're bleeding and bleeding and it won't stop and GAAHHHH Now I have to go to the bathroom and scratch my innards! (j/k - trying to make you giggle.)

I was thinking the same thing--I thought okay maybe it's the pad but maybe it's the soap. I sometimes use bar soap (like ivory or PEARS the glycerin soap) and I have been really aggravated there. Like kinda sore then with the bathroom trips I have to use the pad for the same reason. I also have been noticing discharge, not bad or anything, and in small amounts very faint so the pads help. I do use those feminine wipes if I really think that I am getting a urge to scratch to prevent me tearing myself up and making it worse. Maybe it's the wipes--dunno. I didn't want to tell my doctor anything for whatever stupid reason so please post back what it is.

I am so glad you posted this! I was just going to ask the same question but couldn't think of a "proper" way to word it. I have the same thing I itch like crazy for like 2-3 days and then it goes away for a little and then comes back. My sister also had twins and had this problem and it turned out to be bacterial vaginosis(sp) which needs to be treated b/c it can cause pre-term labor. Every time I go to the doctor I forget to mention it or I am too embarrassed, please let us know what the doc says.

thanks for all the responses!! I am waiting on a call back from my doctor and will post what she says. I'm going to my MFM tomorrow, but he's a man, so i'd much rather talk to my female OB!! :)

The itching does seem to get a little better when i just let myself "air out"

okay mystery solved. apparently the itching is from the amniotic fluid touching my skin. I change the pads often, but I guess there is enough contact to irritate that area especially since it doesn't "breathe" too much. Airing out does help some. Thanks for all the respones!! :)

To be honest, that really sounds like a yeast infection. Before I found out that I was pregnant, I had an yeast infection and it felt the same way as you described....itching on the inside and the dripping of discharge eventually caused the outside to become irritated. I was also wearing a pad. What I think is that the pad does not allow "down there" to breath and air out...and that seems to further irritate things.I felt misreable.Maybe a week later I found out that I was pregnant.I did not remember having a yeast infection for at least over several years.Yeast infections,I was told, are a common thing with pregnacy.(You can even goggle for this info.)because that is what I did and that is what I was informed. And your hubby has a great point...Antibiotics will also cause your immune to break and give one an infection.Because when I had dental problems I was on antibiotics and caught a yeast infection.I wish I knew what to tell you to do-because what I did was get that 3-day monistat and it was gone in about a week. But as I said before that was before I knew that I was pregnant.Your doctor would have to prescribe you something safe.I pray that you feel better..because that can't be good.We already deal with alot carrying multiples..we should not have to suffer with a yeast infection.(if that is a the case).Hope you feel better soon!
