Ok...so I got the advice to let my two year old CIO quite a while ago, but my husband and I really had a tough time deciding to do this. However, last night, we reached our limit and had to do something. So...we let him cry.

And he cried, and cried! for nearly an hour. I felt so bad because I felt like he was really paying for our two years of enforcing bad sleep habits.

But for over a year I can count on two hands the times he has slept through the night, and many many nights, he was up four and five times. Last night, he slept through. All night. No wakeups.

Maybe it was a fluke, but I don't think so. We'll see how tonight goes.

Sounds like it was a success! I don't think it was fluke either...

    Update us on tonight!

    Update!

Last night, which was the second night CIO, he cried for 20 minnutes and fell asleep. He only woke once at 4 am. I went in, put gel on his teeth just in case, rubbed his back and told him he was OK, not to be upset and that he was a big boy for being able to go to sleep all by himself. (Maybe silly, but it made me feel better. Maybe he understands?) He cried for maybe a minute and went right back to sleep. Incredible. I wish I had done this sooner. My husband was so excited. He really felt awful when Anthony cried at first, but then after Anthony went to sleep said...this is going to be so good for us to have some time together in the evening without the kids. Thank you all for your great advice. I really appreciate every one of you.

Congratulations!! I know how hard it is to hear them cry, but you are doing what is best for him. You will be amazed how much happier and better rested he will be too!!
