ok ladies I am not going to lie - my twins are wonderful but not easy!!! I am always looking for ways to make my life easier and my babies happy!

(my girls have decided that I don't need to do any housework or take a shower or for that matter use the bathroom!! they want me to hold them all the time which I LOVE don't get me wrong but sometimes nature calls and the house needs some cleaning!!)

I have this laundry basket that I put a blanket in the bottom of and several of their toys and I sit one baby on each side -
it is small enough that they can sit up and play and I can carry them from room to room - I actually washed a load of clothes and loaded the dishwasher without one single tear!!

so let's share - any tricks that help!!!!!! what works for you??

My guys are walking now. They want me to take them downstairs at the same time and out to the car at the same time. Man, that's not easy. So I have a developed a little pattern for them.

I go to the top of the stairs and say good bye to them and call them individually and have them walk over to my arms and then walk down with them together. So much easier than picking them up one at a time from the ground. When we are going outside, I have a wagon handy and I call them to the door, they walk over and I move them to the wagon and off we go!

    ok, here's mine.... high chairs
with all of my kids (5) i took the high chairs all over the house with me (pre-walking). they like to see where i was. i would bring them in the bathroom while i was in the shower and sing silly songs, they loved it!

Hmmm ... not the laundry basket thing but when they were littler and didn't roll around so much I'd lay a blanket in front of the bathroom or whatever needed cleaning and plunk them down with a few toys, but they mostly just watched me and I'd talk to them and sing to them.

Now when I need to shower I don't wait for naptime, I just bring them in with me! One I'll put in a bouncer and the other I let roam the floor and I play "where's the momma???" game from behind the shower curtain ... they love it! Plus the steam helps when they have colds.

When they get fussy and bored, just moving them to a different room does the trick. All kinds of new things to look at.

And ANYTHING can be a toy. They love rolling around on the newspaper, playing with and chewing on (new) flipflops, boxes, measuring cups, big plasic serving spoons, tupperware, anything can be a new toy! I put water and a few things (teether, bottle cap, etc) in a Ziploc bag and double sealed it, they love playing with the bag, patting the water and the objects in it.

I've also plunked them in a laundry basket with a blanket and toys and pulled them around going, "vroom vroom!" They love it!

I just had another one because I did it last night. It's small but hey, every minute counts.

If you actually get to make a dinner, when putting away leftovers, make a plate up for yourself to heat the next day. That way you don't have to rummage around in different containers, transfer to a plate ... the next day just pop in the microwave and yay, food!!! Works for takeout too, put the chinese on a plate and wrap it up so you're good to go the next day. Also, if you happen to be making something like a casserole, if you can, just double the ingredients to make one to freeze for another day. Easier said than done, but when you can do it, go for it.

I, too, have pushed them around in the laundry basket. Lila especially likes to be "in" things - boxes, baskets, laundry baskets, whatever. Also, I get tired of carrying both of them from room to room (especially before they were crawling) or making two trips, so I started putting them on their bellies on a big blanket & pulling the blanket from room to room as I cleaned. They love their "blanket rides" and the hardwood floors get dusted at the same time! ;)

I also have a big drawer in the kitchen just filled with plastics (bowls, lids, cups, etc) & they love to stand holding on to the drawer and toss everything out onto the floor. I pick it all up and they start over. They will do this for a long time while I cook dinner.
