That I found out at a routine 20.5wk U/S that we were having TWIN BOYS!!!! :D I wanted to share that moment again. Here it is from my blog...

I REALLY wasn't expecting anything unusual. Dh & I figured he'd stay home with the dc since we weren't going to find out gender.

First, let me say - I have had pregnancies (all the girls!) where I was MUCH sicker than I have been this time. I have been extra tired, and still using the potty a lot at night but I thought it was just momma-of-many syndrome, you know? And I pooched really early, but thought - it's my 13th pregnancy. Surely this is normal? I was feeling for the fundus the other day and thought I was measuring big, but I've never been really good at being sure I've found it so I thought I was wrong. All this to say - I KNEW the signs were there (funky heart tones as well) - but I kept coming back to - "but I'm not THAT sick!" Joke's on me!

Elaine (tech) saw the blank paper in my hand and knew right away that I didn't want to know but wanted her to write it down. I was going to give it to Dh for his 40th on Sat. :) The SECOND the image popped up on the screen, I knew. I could see two heads and a jumble of limbs and I just KNEW. You could also see the separation line in the placenta. After about 10 seconds, Elaine said, "Uh, I have to tell you something... You've got two in there."

I calmly smiled and said, "Yeah, I know." My heart never raced or skipped a beat, cool as a cuke!

The images are fascinating. Baby A kept kicking his brother in the head! I wish my scanner worked, I send the pic of the first image I saw - head on left, head on rt, limbs in the middle!

I told her right away that this changed things and I wanted to know gender. Baby A was very cooperative, Baby B was a stinker, but we finally found "it".

She said this radically changes the VBAC picture, but I'll talk to the doc about that on Thursday. The doc I was trying to change at the beginning - who, by the way, is the father of not ONE but TWO sets of twins!!!

I called Dh from the parking lot to tell him I was on the way home (he was taking time out from work to be with the dc and this had - obviously - gone longer than we'd planned) and that I'd need a couple of minutes with him before he left. He was on the couch when I came in and I motioned him to join me in the bedroom - alone. I gave him the pic of the boys and asked how good he was at reading these things? He pointed and said, "Is that the head?" I pointed at both and said, "No, honey - THESE are the headS". It took a full five seconds to register - "There's TWO in there?!?!?"

I can't repeat what he said next.

He had Bug (12yods) read the part where it says "Baby A" and "Baby B" out loud, because he's been praying for twin boys since KITTY'S (14modd) u/s! Bunny's (8yodd) jaw dropped to the floor, Butterfly (10yodd) said "there CAN'T be" and Bug said - "Oh, great - we're having a Thomas - yuck!" (he really loathes the name and we told him it's only an option if we ever had twins!)

Um.... that's it. I'm now officially in shock!

Wow. It's still amazing to me that we were blessed with these little guys - not so little anymore! Ethan had to go in for an ear infection, so he got weighed: 18lbs 10oz at 8mos!! Not bad for a 5 pound twinkie, huh? (Lil' Bro Bryan is about 2-2.5 lbs smaller, though he was a pound heavier at birth!).

I am glad to know that I am not the only one that remembers dates like this. I remember my date was Nov 8, 2 days after a F3 tornando went through my town, destroying my parents neighborhood and killing 24 people and injuring many others. Guess I will never forget that date either, huh....
