My girls are doing quite well. they go down at around 9 or so and sleep till 4, eat then go back till between 6 and 8am. Morning are so nice, they are happy and smiley. they nap so nicely. Then late afternoon comes around and they start sleeping for 5 - 20 mintues at a time. This goes on till bedtime. There is no order, they eat constantly and are grouchy! By this time of day I am sooo tired and by the time DH gets home (530 or 6) I am ready to hand them over and run! (just kidding) It's exhausting!
Ugh, tell me when it gets better!

It gets better, for us it was right at 14 weeks (the magic 12 week mark if you count the fact that they were born at 38 weeks). They started going to bed around 6:30-7, we wake them to eat at 10, then right back to bed. In a matter of days we went from holding them until 10 p.m. to them sleeping up in the nursery until 10. They are grouchy from 5:30-6:30, but then conk out.

Hang in there, you are close!!

Yep, it does get better! We had utter pandemonium during the days until they were 3 months or so. Then they suddenly slipped into a daytime routine. We didn't really get into a set day and night routine until 5 months however.

Uh........ YES!! This is ME! My life! Totally 100% what happens to me EVERY SINGLE DAY! Things are pretty good (somewhat terrifying at times.. LOL) but beginning at 3 pm OMG OMG WATCH OUT!! Mayhem, Bedlam, Chaos, Nightmare in My house!! I cannot deal with it. I cry at least 2 times per week because of the afternoons/evenings! It's like they turn into pumpkins or something!! Only worse! I looked it up and it's called "The Witching Hour".. it's when their neurological systems unwind from the day. Well, mine is more like WITCHING HOURS and It is downright frightening for me! Of course, I'm alone and I cannot handle them both at once when they are THAT upset!

Luckily, by 6 pm they are more than ready for bed and I have found that after a bath they are more calm (i do this every nite) and they eat after and then BEG to go in their beds even wide awake and I put them in there and they always go to sleep.

I don't think there's a lot we can do in this situation but I can tell you that I too, am suffering w/ this problem. And I'm not afraid to admit that I am suffering BIG TIME from it!

It MUST get better cuz it would be difficult for me to imagine it getting worse.

Oh and I should add- I have twin boys who are 15 weeks, 10 weeks adjusted.. When does the good part come in?

Is it possible that your guys have colic? Colic is long periods of unexplained crying usually in the late afternoon to early evening. Sean had colic and it was miserable because he would scream unless I held him one certain way, and only that way, from 3 to 8 pm. James was fussy from 4 to 8, but just being held or played with (by his brother usually) would calm him down.

I might try for an earlier bedtime. I was trying to keep my guys up later so that they might sleep longer, and they were little grouch machines, but now that they go to bed at 7:00 or 7:30 things are much better.

For us it was at 14 weeks (12 adjusted). I think there is something to be said about the magic 12 week mark, at least for my kiddos. And it happened all of the sudden, one day they were up all night and crabby, the next they just about slept through and got into a routine. Hang in there, it's coming!!

I'm a HSHHC believer and I swear that at 14 weeks (12 weeks adjusted age) things settled down. Between 8 and 14 weeks, the late afternoons were fine but I'd spend from 6:15pm-7:45pm getting them to sleep. It involved lots of rocking one and bouncing the other in the bouncy with my foot, extra swaddling, extra feeds and paci-reinserts. I don't cry much so I didn't cry but I said a lot of "This has to get better. I can't do this anymore." My spouse was handling the insane 3 yr old and trying to prevent him from screaming "rapido, agua" and whatever other spanish words he knew at the top of his lungs in the bathtub, 10 feet away from the twins room. It was seriously insane. At times, I would wear two baby bjorns around the house, bouncing and jogging to try and get them to settle down. Craziness. A few times, I had the whole crew outside in 40 degree weather walking around the block in the dark because it was the only thing that would settle the babies down. My 3 yr old was a trooper!

Suddenly about 2 weeks ago, when my girl got fussy, a quick swaddle, a paci and into bed actually worked! She was alseep. When my boy stopped cooing and was sort of sliding down the bouncy seat, a quick swaddle, a paci, a rock and few pats and into bed. They usually sleep until 10:30ish. Eat, burp, back to bed. Baby girl goes through to 5am now, baby boy still thinks he needs to eat around 3am but can be convinced to go back to sleep.

This week though, they have 'kennel' cough. Back to crazy nights!

It does get better. Just keep on keeping on. There's nothing more to do about it. Get an ocean sounds cd or white noise generator, get plenty of swaddling blankets (if they like that) and just try to ride it out.

I have nothing to add, but wanted to give you a :hug99: . I just keep telling myself that it has to get better. People keep saying that it does, and I'm choosing (somewhat suspiciously) to believe them.

Good luck!!! And, there's always Zoloft. ;)
