I think some frats probably look a lot alike - same as how in some families all of the kids look very similar.

My frats do have different hair color, one is a light brunette and the other is a dark blonde. However my sons, who are not twins, have the same red hair and pale skin. They actually look more alike than my twins do. Genetics, it's always a surprise. :unknw:

eta: O, on the left in my avatar, actually looks much more like her 23-yo half-sister than she does her twin. (But O is blonde and her half-sister is decidedly brunette.) Go figure!

Both with blue eyes, but different shades. One with dark brown hair and one with dishwater blond (why do they call it that?).

We each have our own mini-me.

I'm sure there are frats who look a lot alike. People tell me that mine do and I'm like, "really?"
DS has olive skin, dark brown hair and big brown eyes (my side of the family)
DD has porcelain, very fair skin, light brown hair with some blond sprinkled in there and deep blue eyes (DH's side of the family).
I don't think they look alike at all.

I have one skinny boy with very fine blond hair and extremely fair skin. His twin is built like a linebacker and has huge hazel eyes with brown curly hair. Both boys are Caucasian, African American, Greek, and Italian... although you'd never guess they had so many beautiful ethnicities in the gene pool. I was shocked to meet them, having envisioned darker-complected babies throughout my pregnancy.

Gene expression is amazingly fascinating (to me at least)!

My boys have different hair color and texture. Eli has dark, dark born hair that is stereotypical biracial curly hair (although his hair used to be straight for 7 months). Mark has brown hair that has a strong red tint in the sunlight, and he has much looser curls, more like waves.

Their skin coloring is somewhat different. Eli is a little lighter, and Mark is a little darker, but their undertone is totally different. Mark has a bright red undertone, and when he gets angry he's red as a beet. Eli has a very yellow under tone.

When they were littler, I did have people comment about their racial appearance, and one women even asked me if I had one black twin and one white twin.

But they also have a lot of other differences besides color--they have different body builds. Eli is very broad chested, and has a big tummy. Mark has a smaller torso and is very muscular.

Even though I think they look very different, some people have been telling me they look more alike now than they did when they were born.

Erin, I have to tell you I thought it was really cute that you had two different color monkeys in your lily pie ticker. I noticed that they other day :)

Not the best picture, but the biggest noticable difference between my two (aside from looking inside of the diapers) is that Alice has a unibrow and Royce has no eyebrows at all.

They both have light blonde hair, R's eyes are a bit lighter than A's, her eyes are more bright blue. They're the same height, same weight, different builds though, she's got long legs and a proportionate torso, while he's got a very large torso and short legs.

My two have the exact same dark brown hair color but my son has darker skin (like my DH) and my daughter has light skin (like me). They both have DH's dark dark brown eyes. I am the blonde hair blue eyed Mom who just carried them.

both blonde with blue eyes here. As with any two people in the world, their hair is either the same or one person has lighter/darker than the other. That has nothing to do with frats but is just life.

I have one blonde haired, blue eyed girl and one dark haired dark eyed girl. They look so different people question me if they are twins. One looks exactly like me, the other exactly like my husband. I think it is pretty cool. They also have totally opposite personalities.

We have cousins born 11 months apart that we can barely tell apart, yet it's a breeze with my twins!
The biggest difference is 6lbs.!!!! The other is I have one blonde and one brunette. Both have blue eyes like their father, neither have curly hair like their father.

If we didn't know better I would say ours were a hospital mix up. DH and I both have brown hair of a smiliar shade and green eyes. Our boys on the other hand - one has really fine blonde hair with soft curls. His brother has course and thick light brown hair with a mind of it's own - it's not curly, but it's never straight either. One has giant dark eyelashes that you can see from across the room. We weren't sure the other one had eyelashes for several months without a magnifying glass. One has small green eyes. The other one has huge blue eyes. One has my skin tone - more olive colored. The other is pasty white. One is built like a linebacker (chunky, adoreable baby butt, broad shoulders - very square build), the other like a wide receiever (tall, skinny, tapered waist, no butt, pencil thin legs, and HUGE feet). The chunky monkey outweighs his brother by 2lbs according to the Dr, though DH and I would swear it has to be 5 or more. It would be super easy to tell which baby you have by weight alone.

Their personalites are just as varied. One is super high maintenace, the other is very laid back.

Ironically they have 4 year old twin cousins - also frats that I can't tell apart for the life of me. While their 6 year old ID cousins look day and night different to me.

It's just genetics. Frat twins are just as alike or not as normal brothers and sisters born at a different time.

I have my SPF 50 baby,Tyler, Blond and blue eyed with super fair skin, and my SPF 15 baby, brown hair and eyes, honey coloured skin. People don't believe that they are twins sometimes.
