Is it weird that my twins are still taking 3 naps a day? They sleep through the night for the most part, but they are taking two long naps (morning/afternoon) and one cat nap in the evening hours...is anyone else experiencing this?

We readjusted our schedule and dropped the third nap around 8 mos because they fought it on most days, but going from the end of their second nap to bedtime was way too long. I would have kept it if it weren't for them showing signs they were ready for a schedule change. Now we keep them up 3 hours between naps and they take 2 longer naps, so the gap between nap #2 and bedtime is reasonable. So at 4 months, 3 naps sounds reasonable to me.

ETA: Although, I was always hearing from older family members "Really? They still take 3 naps?" So I'd have to come on here and ask if I was crazy or not. And then when I dropped them to two, the very same week my MIL was like "maybe they're ready for 1 nap now." At 8 months? I don't think so.

My twins are almost 8 months and still like to take a quick 3rd - cat nap around dinner time.

my girls still do 3 naps a day - the morning & early afternoon nap are usually around 2 hours each & then the 3 nap is usually 30 min - 1 hour. :)

I am sitting here “dealing” w/ nap changes…. 2 weeks ago (age 8 m) mine were taking 3 naps a day… any were from 45 min- 1 ½ (each one of course would sleep a different length… but they both were put down at the same time, every time…) they were sleeping 6:30pm – 6am all night… well Christmas day they slept past 7am… now they don’t wake until 7 everyday, but I still put them down around 6:30-7… oye… so now I am trying to get them to take a longer nap @ 1:00 as I need them asleep by 7… I can’t just push the whole schedule back an hour… I don’t start dinner till they are in bed… they still take about 45 min –an hour nap at 9am (and boy do they need it) but at 1:00 Seth is just fighting sleeping longer than 45 min but Nathan will sleep 2 hours (yesterday he slept 2 1/2…) so then that throws off the whole 4:00 nap… that I have to wake them up at 5:00 so they are sleepy by 6:30- 7pm… man I hate schedule changes… I like knowing what to expect when…

    Hello,

Not a weird question at at! Actually, i was wondering the same thing for a while but now feel reassured. My twin boys are 9 months and still do 3 naps a day. I think its a blessing, especially since they sleep the whole night too :D I better not jinx it ;)

Mine are 4 months old too, and they take FOUR naps a day. I can't seem to get them off of it, but I now have the No-cry sleep solution and (an old copy *grr* long story) of HSHHC. I need to get the new one, but I'm hoping they will help me!

Mine only take 2 naps at day care, but they take 3 naps at home with us on the weekends and they are a year old. I was wondering if we are weird because we still do three naps. They are happy that way though.

Sounds great to me. I wish mine would sleep that much. If they seem to need the sleep, I dont see the problem.
