Is This Still "Normal"?

    Hi everyone,
I gave birth to J&D by Cesarean and bled for 12 weeks afterward. I have not had a period since that time. The surgery was a little traumatic, they had to tie off my uterine artery to stop the bleeding and had a very difficult time getting my uterus to start contracting on its own again. However, my doctor fully expected everything to return to normal with time. She, along with many people here, have told me that it is normal not to rsume menstruation for up to a year, especially if you are fully breastfeeding. I have been pumping up to 32 ounces a day, so as far as my body is concerned that is enough for one baby to be breastfed exclusively. However, I have been "weaning" for about 4 weeks now and am now down to about 10 ounces a day. But nothing - no cramps, no signs of my period. Should I worry? We recently moved and I have to find a new OB...so until then I thought I'd ask the real experts!
    Thanks :)

I had a completely uncomplicated C-section and didn't get my period until the twins were about 13 months old. I stopped all pumping by 10.5 months. I think it's normal, but like I said, I didn't have any of the complications or issues you had.

I was very similar to Jennifer; I had a c-section with no complications, and stopped pumping at about 10.5 months (I did still nurse in the evenings). My period came back when the boys were about 15 months. It just took a while for my body to get going, but now I'm regular as clockwork. Joy. <_<

Thanks! It always feels so good to know that others have had the same experiences and been fine!

Some people don't get their period whatsoever as long as they exclusively breastfeed. Even after weaning it takes a few months. Whether you had a c-secton or vaginal delivery. So I think it's normal.

Wow! I never thought I'd ever say this...but I hope not! No, don't think there's much chance of that, but I guess you never know. I was on the "mini pill" while breastfeeding, though my doctor said it would not keep me from getting my period.

Well, I BF'd until 10 months but still started mine at 4 months! I felt jipped. :) Just sharing that so you know it can vary so so much. I think you are fine.
