Is this something new moms go through?

I have started having dreams about my babies, but in the dreams I can't get a handle on being a mom. For example, I had a dream where I forgot how to hold the babies and they wouldn't stop crying, another dream was that I didn't have enough carseats so my husband just put one of the babies on a tricycle!! I wake up sometimes and start getting nervous about whether or not I am going to be able to take care of two babies and make sure they get everything they need. Is this just new mom worry???

Sounds like pregnancy dreams to me. I still have the weirdest dreams about stuff like that and I have 5 children. Dreams just seem to get more vivid and more bizarre when I'm pregnant.

I never had dreams about not being able to handle my kids but I did have some really strange adn VIVD dreams. That's the pregnancy. The underlying content may be your anxiety about being prepared to become a mom.

I had pretty vivid dreams myself during my pregnancy.

First of all, stop picking on your husband in your dreams!
I'm sure he'd be fair enough to put them both on tricycles!!! :p

Secondly, DW had a dream the other night about trying to care for a bear cub. I'm not sure if that's a comment on me (I'm not hairy at all) or just a reflection of her (totally undeserved) lack of self-confidence. She has always had "interesting" dreams so YMMV. Certainly when this is the #1 thing on your mind it is perfectly normal to have it show up in your dreams.

I had really vivid dreams also. I was in the hospital on bedrest, but I would have dreams that I gave birth at home and misplaced the babies. Or I had the babies, but they kept slipping out of my grasp and I couldn't get them into their carseats to get them to the hospital. I remember how scary and real they were

Vivid dreams are just a wonderful part of pregnancy! Its due to your skyrocketing hormones and heightened anxiety. I remember one of the more vivid dreams with my first pregnancy, it was quite upsetting. I was walking thru walmart with a cart, and I had a boy and a girl ( this was during my singleton pregnancy, very interesting how with my next pregnancy, this one, Im having a boy AND a girl!!) and the girl slipped thru the footholds of the cart and landed on the floor. I just kept walking and left her there. After I went thru the checkout, I went and talked to dr phil about how i left my child on the floor!

It really made no sense, but I remember waking up and being absolutely horrified that I would even dream of such a thing.
With this pregnancy, I haven't really had dreams about the babies, just vivid dreams about our son whom we lost at the beginning of this pregnancy. Sometimes, It can be really hard for me to sleep due to the dreams, as they can be quite horrific. He died from a tragic accident and I was the one who found him. Sometimes your subconscious likes to dig up the things that are really causing you anxiety and then lets them run rampent when your dreaming.

All in all, its VERY normal. But don't let it bother you too much. You won't "forget" how to hold the babies or even care for the babies. It sounds like you may just be having anxiety about being able to handle two babies at once. I don't think their are many women out there who don't fear the same thing!!! My sister just had her second singleton, and she had some pretty crazy dreams about leaving the carseat with the baby on top of her car and driving off. She thought too deep into the dream and drove herself crazy thinking that it could come true because shes only used to buckling one child in. but for one thing, who would ever put a carseat on top of a car?its not like a coffee.. you wouldnt just "forget". :)

hope this helps to calm your nerves a little :)

I think that it's normal...this is my 3rd pregnancy and I've had dreams (mine are always funny to me) with them all. I had one with the twins a few months back where I couldn't get all of my kids in the car so I had a meeting and they pulled straws on who would stay home. :rotflmbo:

This is totally normal. I think the anxiety gets to us and it comes out at night. I had a dream that all 3 of my sons (my oldest and the two yet to be born) took over my job for me and ran it. It said alot about my job also.

Normal! I usually had the same dream over and over, the one where I left the baby somewhere and couldn't find them!
