My OB did an u/s at 6 weeks and found out I was having twins, then at 10 weeks I was spotting so the ER did another u/s the babies looked good then and my dates matched up. My ob hasnt done an u/s since the ER, he heard both HB on the doppler at our regular visit 2 weeks ago so he must not of felt a follow up was necessary. I have 18 week u/s scheduled with the peri (first meeting with him in feb) but I just feel like I need to know their ok, my ob doesn't do u/s in the office so he rarely schedules them even when I've called the office having mind blowing back pain and other things. I was thinking of going into the ER over the weekend at sometime and saying I fell or something just cause I know they'll do an U/S and I'll feel a little better. It would be worth sitting there for 5 hours just to see they are ok. I feel a bit guilty doing it though

Talk to your OB. I had 12weeks NT scan where I saw both babies. and my next one is 16 weeks.

I had and NT scan at 13 weeks and had one last night...and I know that you are only a day ahead of me so we should be comparing notes! Need a good excuse to go to the ER? I got a good one for ya! It's something that really happened to me last night.

While I understand completely the difficulty in waiting for your scheduled ultrasound please don't go to the ER unless you really need to. If you're really that concerned you should call your OBs office and discuss it with them.

It really ties up resources that people who really need to use them won't be able too. Wouldn't you hate to have to be the one waiting because someone wasn't utilizing an ER correctly?

Plus, ERs are *extremely* expensive (whether you're paying for it out of pocket or an insurance company is, that money's got to come from somewhere)

Sorry...probably not what you wanted to hear.

I would not fake an illness. It's not right to all the other people in the ER that are really sick/hurt.

But I'm sure if you talk to your OB or even a nurse from the office, they can schedule you an ultrasound to help put your mind at ease.

It's hard not to worry.

I know what you mean. Having to wait for another ultrasound can be torture! I just had an U/S last week and found out that I am having twins. (They completely missed it on my 8 wk U/S and almost missed it again last week!)

It's nerve wracking not knowing if everything is ok. I will be soooo glad when the day comes that I will be able to feel the babies moving every day! Until then, I am right there with you wondering if I should fake a visit to the ER. <_<

I definately know what you mean. I would have one every week if I could. I've had 4 so far. One to conform dates, another at the doctors office before they moved me to another (I think it was because that doctor had never done an ultrasound with twins and just wanted to see), then I went to the ER for bleeding (they acted like I was over reacting and didn't treat me very well, didn't even want to give me one I had to beg for it), and then the NT scan. I looked into the 3D/4D places around here and one has a series of ultrasounds. One 2D between 14 and 20 weeks and then 2 more 3D/4D ones after 20 weeks. I am having the 2D done this weekend (hoping they can tell the genders). I couldn't wait til 20 weeks to see these babies again. You could look into that if you really want an ultrasound and your doctor won't do one. I've called mine 3 times in the last week with sever cervical pain and lower abdomen pain and they said it was normal for my stage. If it gets worse call back. I started feeling them kick at 13 weeks. I thought once I felt them kick I would be better. Nope. Now if I don't feel one kick one day or throughout the day I worry. I need to jump in time by 6 weeks. Good luck. Don't drive yourself crazy like I am myself.

Just schedule an ultrasound at the place where you've had your others. If insurance is involved then they may make you pay for it though. You can have extra ultrasounds if you want though, they're not just doctor's orders. Sometimes you just need to get rid of the anxiety but I wouldn't hang out at he ER to get the u/s.
