Is this preterm back labor...

I'm 33 weeks along...last night, I stopped by my husband's basketball practice and sat on the floor on the sidelines to watch the last few minutes. When he was done, I asked him to help me up. Well, apparently, I was stepping on his shoe (a flip flop he had changed into) which caused him to lose his balance and literally fall over me while trying to pull me up.

Well, this morning and a few times last night, I felt the MOST INTENSE rhythmic cramping in my lower back. It's not a constant dull ache the way I would expect it to hurt if I had pulled something last night from the fall/stumble...but it comes and goes and is super painful. IN addition, I feel like my braxton hicks have been much more frequent this morning.

So, has anyone here had the back pain associated with preterm labor that they can describe to me? Is this just that I tweeked my back last night, or is that just coincidental???

I really have no idea, but it would probably be best just to call your Dr and make sure. It's always better to be safe rather than sorry! I hope it's nothing!

Yes, I had lower back pain with my PTL, I didn't realize it at the time, but that is what it had to have been. I would call your OB to let them know.

I agree. Call your OB. I had back pains once and needed to go in for medications to stop labor. Once they had it settled down, I was fine. gl!

I guess my question is: what does back labor FEEL like? I can't tell if this is PTL or just because I got dropped last night???

You are asking the million dollar question! I have no idea how you know the differnce between regular back pain and PTL. My back has been acting up a lot lately, but um, I'm pregnant with twins! So it could be that too! haha ...

I agree that you should call your OB and talk to them ... they may send you in to get it checked out ... and you'll have an answer one way or the other ...

but I have had sporatic back pain recently and always think the same thing!

I'm not sure if there really is a way to know this for sure, unless you got checked out by your OB.

When I had it it was a constant dull ache in my lower back. I didn't think anything of it at the time and my OB did not either, I was on bedrest. But then my DD was born a few days later.

i agree with pp to call your ob! It sounds like it could very well be related to ptl. With DS i had back pain like that when i was in labor and its no fun!
