My DS is crawling and even standing up and taking some steps around the couch and whatnot. He is so curious and into everything and wants to explore it all. My DD can crawl and sit, however, she isn't that interested in going anyplace. She can do it, but if I sit her in a spot she won't do anything but sit there and chew on her shirt or whatever. I usually have to go get toys and give them to her. She will hang out and just make noise and look at her hands and chew on clothes. She smiles and laughs and likes to move with music, but I don't know. I hate to compare them but DS is so into everything and she isn't into much. I feel like something could be wrong.

If you didn't have your ds to compare her to would you think something is wrong? It sounds like she's just laid back to me. She's just grooving to her own music. It's hard not to compare but it's really not fair to the babies or you. They are individuals. Don't miss the good parts of having 2 babies by stressing out too much.

Good luck and enjoy your laid back baby. They change so quickly.

I think she sounds perfectly normal :) Just going at her own pace
Mine are a whole month older than yours & NEITHER of them are pulling up to be on their feet or cruising anywhere besides crawling/pulling themselves across the floor :)

Well, I guess its not really that she isn't going anywhere, but that she can and doesn't. That she seems so uninterested in things around her. That is what really bothers me. If she wasn't crawling yet no big deal. Its just how uninterested in things she seems that gets to me

She's probably just not as outward about showing her interest in things. My daughter also loves to stare at her hands and make funny sounds to herself (and goofy faces). It doesn't sound like anything to worry about to me, just a nice mellow baby who is good at keeping herself content.

She does just sound more mellow & content :)
You could always call the pedi & just mention it for peace of mind though ~

If you are concerned call the Ped and I am sure that they can put your mind at ease. However, it sounds to me kind of like when a baby first does something like rolling, they dont really master it for awhile until they figure out how to do it consistently. Maybe it will just take her a bit to feel comfortable that she can do it??

That sounds exactly like my DS and DD. He was pulling up and crawling every where by 7 months. DD could just just didn't very much. (She had to really want a toy to go after it.) But now she's decided there's just too much to see to be in one spot and they are both everywhere. (But usually not together! )

That said, if you feel like something could be wrong, call her ped. There's no harm in that. And as the mommy, you know best. Follow your gut.

Some babies just like to take their time doing things. I agree with the others who say to talk to the pedi though. Don't think of it as comparing, think of it as noticing differences =)

I think the whole "being into everything" is a boys perogative..lol I have 2 boys, that are 10mos. and have been into EVERYTHING, since they were mobile at 4 1/2 mos. old. lol... My PED has a set of twin girls that are 4yrs. old, and a 1 yr. old, and she said that he was worse than the both of them... they would just play quietly to themselves, and he was loud and outspoken and into everything!!! So who's to say... but it's better safe than sorry, if your too worried I would call the Ped...
