Hey Ladies! I am 17 weeks 6 days pregnant. I am having small sharp pains, like little contractions. Is this normal? I didn't experience it with my singleton but I have heard of BH contractions.

Do any of you have these?

I would say that if you have any concern at all, don't hesitate to call your Dr. Its so much better to be safe than sorry...

I made a habit of calling my Dr. for lots of questions like this!! It always eased my mind when I knew that what I feeling was normal or something to be concerned about :)
I am *guessing* it is round ligament pain (ouch!!), but it's always good to let the Dr. know.

    good luck!

Thanks girls for the replies. The pain is at the top of my stomach, under my breasts. Especially when I breathe....when I try to walk around I get out of breath. It has subsided a little bit. I think I may have done too much today and may have over worked myself...maybe its my body's way of saying "slow down" I went to the grocery store, brought all the bags in and put everything up myself. Walked around the neighborhood cuz my 4 yr old wanted to ride his bike and did two loads of laundry...I just feel exhausted.

Plus I have horrible Sciatic nerve pain!! It comes every night, I have tried warm baths, tylenol, putting my feet up. Nothing helps, anyone know of any tricks? Where can u buy a heating pad?

    Thanks ladies!

Glad to hear the pain's better. Sorry about your sciatic nerve. That was a hotspot for my oldest ds. You can get a heating pad at just about any pharmacy and I would imagine wally world would carry them as well. Take it easy and rest as much as you can.

Kristy ~ I actually had the same pain in the same spot during my pregnancy, I know how painful that is :hug99:
I thought it was my ribs spreading/widening?

    Hang in there :)

I agree that it is probably your body's way of telling you to slow it down and take it easy.

Thanks ladies for all of the replies. I did alot less today and am not having any of those pains anymore.

But I do feel like everytime I try to get up and move around it is such a chore! I get so tired so fast. I am not used to this and having the worst time sleeping. My legs hurt, especially that sciatic nerve pain. I have to get up atleast 4 times a night to pee and it is so hard to walk to the bathroom. I am getting myself a heating tomorrow for sure!!

    Hi!

I had severe sciatic pain earlier in my pregnancy and it has subsided (THANK GOD!!) because I couldn't handle the amount of pain sometimes! I found that ice packs worked the best (as suggested by my chiropractor) because the heating pad, warm baths, etc, didn't work at all! Apparently the ice soothes and calms down the muscles when they are "spasm-ing" (sp?). . .

As far as the pain in your chest, I have the same thing. . .mine is more like burning pain at times. . .I think sometimes one of the babies plants themselves up towards my ribs more and gives me less room. . .I found that if I stretch with my hands above my head, it helps a little. . . gives me more breathing room anyway. . .

As far a BH, I found that my whole belly gets really tight and hard. . .which should go away if you lay down. If not, call the doctor. . or if you have more than 6 an hour. . .I also had a LOT of round ligament pain early on which was more like shooting pains. . .I still get them but mostly when I try to stand up or when I roll from either side when sleeping. . .I actually grab and hold onto my whole belly at night (without even realizing it) because it hurts!! LOL

    Good luck!
