The little girl I'm diong daycare for (she'll be 4 in October) is "dry humping" herself to sleep. I thought this is what she was doing the other day, but I didn't really pay attention. She's sleeping in the same room as the twins for her nap and I have to go in and shush them a few times before they fall asleep. Well, I had to go in there today and the twins were chatting and she was on her nap mat on her belly with her hands under her and "humping" with her eyes closed and like half-conscious. I covered her back up and it kind of "startled" her.

Is this normal? Would you mention something to her mom?? I mean, I'm sure at home she naps in her own room by herself and maybe her mom doesn't even know. I wouldn't even know how to bring it up...I've only watched her for, well, this is the 3rd week.

Emma does the same thing but only in the carseat. Ped says it is normal. They don't know what they are doing is sexual to us they just know it feels good.

I'd make sure it wasn't just a one-time thing before you mention it or make an decisions.

Oh, definitely! I wasn't going to mention anything right away. I've never seen her even attempt to do this other than when she went down for her nap which makes me think it's a comfort thing.
