My girls are 12 weeks and I am not thrilled with their sleep schedules. I put them to bed at 8 and they sleep till 2, then up at 4 or 5 for the day!! How do I get them to sleep later? I am not a morning person and this is consistent!!

And they have NO nap schedule. Still wont sleep for more than 45 minutes if I'm lucky during the day (and never at the same time). Often only swaddled in their swings. Is this normal for this age? When can I get them on better nap schedules?

Is there really light at the end of the tunnel??

They sound like my little guys. I just kept plugging along trying to get them on a better schedule and around 4.5-5 months, they suddenly fell into a wonderful schedule of their own making. 2 hours up, 2 hours asleep. I love it!

Actually, I think for them to sleep from 8-2 is pretty good at that age. Mine didn't really get on much of a nap schedule till about 5 months, I think. Before that, they were napping absolutely on opposite times of each other. I thought it would be like that forever, but eventually they got to where they're sleeping at the same times.

I know there's a lot of ladies who know more about sleep patterns than I do....hopefully they can help you out more. I almost read that book, Healthy Sleep Patterns, Healthy Kids, but when I was ready to order it was when they started sleeping better. Good luck!

That sounds about normal for that age. Like PP have said they will develop into a better sleep schedule once they get a little bit older. I started a nap schedule with mine about 3 1/2 months. It didn't happen overnight - it took some work but now they sleep through the night and take two 2 hr naps a day. Once they start napping better their night time sleep will get better and longer too. You might want to read the book Healthy Sleep Habits, Happy Child. It is kind of dry but has a lot of good information about sleep based on babies different stages. Hang in there, it will get better!

When mine were that age, they had a decent schedule other then the nites sounded like yours are now. During the day, I kept their feedings within 30 minutes of each other and they slept about 2 hours 3x's a day. They went to sleep about 8pm, up at 2am for a feeding, then back up at 5-6am to start the day. It was a battle, but it does get better.

Now their schedule is wonderful. They go down at 8pm, sleep until 6am, nap from 9-11am, nap from 2-3:30pm then up until bedtime. Other then the sleeping all nite, the nap schedule has been like this for a few months now. We did CIO for 3 weeks and they have slept all nite for a week now, hopefully it lasts.

At that age, you really can't expect things to be great... sleep wise. Mine were up all through the night, and didn't sleep good during the day either. Around 4 months, it all smoothed itself out, and they began sleeping through the night. I didn't change anything I did... I just did the same nighttime routine I had been doing since they were born.

I think when they are ready, and their nervous systems are complex they will sleep through...

    Hang in there! [IMG]

When ours were still waking in the middle of the night like that we started a dreamfeed at 10:00. They then woke up later and later in the night and very soon slept through.
Don't expect great napping right away, mine are still terrible nappers, but sleeping through the night makes up for it!

    I can't believe this!
I wrote this yesterday and last night they were up a few times, but slpt in till 6:30 and 9:30!!! OMG!!!!

Then then they took a simultaneous nap in their cribs for 45 minutes....WHAT?

Thanks so much for all your encouragement, I needed it.
