Is this normal teething stuff?

My girls keep running a low-grade fever/temp off and on. Not really fever, actually, but anywhere from 99.0 to 100.3. Is this related to teething? Should I be worried? Seems like every other day I'm having to give them motrin or tylenol. I know they are both teething REEEEALLY bad, but does it cause a low-grade temp like this?

    Thanks!

Yep it can. "They" (as in dr's/research) say it's unrelated, but as a mom of 4 kids, so far 3/4 of them ran a low grade fever during teething. Liam is the only one who hasn't that I've noticed, but he's not teething as bad as Rylee.

If they are extremely fussy with the fever though, you might want to get them checked. Rylee has been progressively getting fussier and screaming more all week, I took her to the dr yesterday and she has ear infections. I suspected it saturday and sunday the way she was crying every time I laid her down.

Anyways, yes it's normal and you actually don't need to treat a low grade fever unless they seem like they are in pain from the teething :)

Doctors will say teething doesn't cause fevers but I have certainly seen my kids run a low fever while teething. I hope it doesn't last much longer.

It's probably related to teething. Also, my Ped says that they really dont consider anything under 100.6 a fever.

Thanks so much, everyone, for your input!

I have also noticed that Payton has been tugging on her right ear a lot....poss ear infection?? Or is that par for teething too? Also, both girls have a tiny little cough. Not too bad, but I have also read (in What To Expect the First Year) that when teething, they can have a little cough--sounds odd, but I don't know. I'm a newbie at all this.

You may want to take them in, especially with the ear pulling. If not for the other symptoms, I would say it was just teething.

Pulling ears can go with teething, but since she has a fever it might be worth getting her ears checked.

Just wondering how they are doing today? Did you end up going to the Ped's?

I asked my mom recently (she's been a nurse for 28 years) about low-grade fevers and teething. Doctors will swear up and down that the two are not related, but she said anytime your body is in contstant pain like that it often responds by running a low-grade fever. I agree with the pp's that there is no need to treat it unless they seem to be in pain. I totally believe that it is a side effect of teething though - I hope they feel better soon!
