is this dangerous?

I've thought lately of possibly changing to toddler beds, but haven't had a real reason to switch yet. Plus, I don't really have the money yet. However, this past week they keep crawling under their cribs, lying on their backs and kicking up on the bottom of the crib with their feet. I think the bottom of the bed is bolted to the crib, but they're strong enough that they can really move the crib around. I'm not sure if they can get hurt doing this, but I still don't like it.

Would this be dangerous enough to switch beds????

 

If you are going to use toddler beds I wouldn't think so, are they climbing out of their cribs? I put them in twin beds just before they turned 2 because at 18 months they were constantly climbing out of their cribs, it was partly a safety measure for us. I didn't have to use rails or anything. Do they sleep well in the cribs? Other than laying underneath what might your other motivations be?

 

No, that's pretty much my only reason right now. They sleep well in their cribs & so far haven't tried to climb out. They do try to climb in, though.

 

I don't think I would then, them laying underneath and pushing up is simply because they can. I would wait until they are showing you they are ready or you are simply ready.

I wouldn't worry too much about that -- if the cribs can stand a toddler jumping up and down in them, they ought to be able to stand a toddler poking at them from the bottom. The main things I'd worry about would be getting stuck, or getting scratched/poked by some sharp part, but that could happen anywhere.
