What is the deal????? Collin is now 7 mo and still not sleeping 12hours...Not only does he usually get up at around 12am and then again at 530 but last night and (some other nights) he is getting up at 11 then 3 for bottles then up at 6??? Is this typical?? He has somewhat of a sinus infection which might be why he's getting up but I couldn't get him back to sleep until I gave him a bottle! And every other night when he gets up around 12 or so then 530 it's the same thing. How in the world do you start dropping bottles when you have a kiddo still taking bottles at night?? How in the world do you get them to drop the overnight bottle? He takes about 5 oz each bottle 4 bottles during the day plus baby food. I always put 6 oz on the bottle and he rarely takes 6. I even put cereal in the last nightime bottle (well the 6pm bottle) thinking it will give him more calories to sleep thru without luck. I am so tired of not getting much sleep

I think there is a wide range of normal for night wakings. I have read on here that lots are STTN by then, but for me, mine were not. They were getting up at least once if not twice a night at 7 months. They didnt STTN until 9 months and they dropped the feedings on their own. You can try and increase his intake during the day which it sounds like you are doing. White noise in the nursery really helped mine. I wish I would have done it earlier.

I didn't do anything special, mine just started sleeping longer and longer. When they did wake up, I'd put their paci back in their mouth and they would fall back asleep. At first, the paci only worked for so long and I'd of course feed them when they started to fuss. But, they've been sleeping from 7:30 - 6:30 for a while now (probably 4 - 4.5 months). I'm moving them to their cribs tonight though, so that may all change!!

I started giving them pacis instead of bottles and made sure they were eating enough during the day. If I knew they had then I did not feed I just gave them a pacifier and patted them. My pedi pretty much told me that I'm the mom and I have to put my foot down at some point to stop the night feedings. it took a few weeks but it worked.

Mine also just recently started getting up 2x a night again. Mine just turned 8 months. I was wondering if this was normal also. Mine usually take about 5-6 oz when they wake up each time and up for the day by 7. Its so tiring.

WE didnt bottlefeed much (mostly breastfed) but I can tell you my two were completely different!
DD was STTN at 7-8 months while DS was still waking 2-3x at 13 months of age! Once I finally felt comfortable and OK that he really didnt NEED those nighttime feelds we stopped.
What does your gut tell you? Do you think hes honestly hungry? If so, Id say just keep reminding yourself its such a short time in their lives and this too shall pass. THink about alternative ways to get more sleep at night such as keeping the baby close to you, or having someone else do a bottle feed for you, take naps when baby naps etc.

Hope you get some sleep soon! even 1 night makes a huge difference!

What worked for my girls was to gradually wean them off the night feedings. First, I replaced one oz of their formula with water every 2-3 days (so 7 oz formula with 1 oz water, then 6 oz formula with 2 oz water, etc.). Once they were just drinking water, then I decreased the amount in the bottle by one oz every 2-3 days. My twins seriously held onto those night feedings until they had gone through a few days of just receiving one oz of water but they finally stopped waking and STTN. After that, they never had a waking problem again.

Same here. My DS was waking at 5am every morning at around 2.5 - 3 months. He wouldnt go to sleep till I gave him a bottle. I consulted my book (The Baby Whisperer) which recommended giving your LO a dummy (i.e. paci) if it´s habitual night waking and/or to determine if it´s food they need. I started doing this and he went back to sleep adn woke at 6.30am. Mine were STTN 12 hours at 4.5 months. However, not all babies are ready to do this so early.

Can you up his solids during the day? I used to feed mine more in the afternoons to "tank them up" so to speak. Maybe you could add more cereal to his last bottle and/or give more bottles in the afternoon? He could be going through a growth spurt? GL!

Instead of putting the cereal in the bottle I started mixing the cereal with formula and spoon feeding it to them and then giving a bottle about 30 minutes before bed time. This helped to cut out the bottle. Gave us an extra job but the sleep was worth it in the end.

mine are doing the exact same thing! usually DS will sleep til midnight, DD will get up around 9-10 though and cry til she gets a bottle. then again at midnight, SOMETIMES they will wake around 2, and then around 5:30. ive started letting DD cry through the 9-10 wake up. i hate it but i dont know what else to do. i have them in separate rooms now which sucks. the dr. put mine on whole milk already and they get 6 oz at 9am, and 2pm for naps, and 8oz at around 7is for bed. they eat good (according to the chart WIC gave me about servings) at meal times. i just dont get it. i started giving them water for their wake ups, except for the midnight one ill give them 5oz of milk. we are traveling to see family may 16-24 and when we get home i think ill start letting them cio. i always said id never do it but i dont know what else to do.

Ya know? I might try doing that around here! Lately mine have been waking 2-3 times per night!! I like to blame almost everything on teething, but this is seriously starting to get to me and it's wearing me down.. physically AND emotionally. [I was going to post up something today about this topic]. They at least wake once each a night [about every other week or so one decides to STTN] but it's very inconsistant.
