    Hiya,

Really worried about my Amber again  poor baby stayed at my Mum & Dads on Thursday night and we had to go settle her because my Mum couldn't get her to sleep, she was screaming harder than i have ever heard before. My Mum said she projectile vomitted her feed all over herself too (she has reflux bt not done this in months) she just zonked out the minute i swaddled n started swaying her. She was ok when she woke but very clingy, my Mum couldn't put her down.

Unfortunately when we picked her up Friday we had to take her for her last set of jabs, which she was really brave for. We puu her to bed about 17.30 after a 8 oz bottle and she went out like a light again, very over tired bless her. We did here quite alot of moaning from her but she didn't wake herself up, until 2.50am when we fed her. She has been off her food for a few weeks now but she drank another 6oz bottle. This is when she started panting like a dog would. So we thought she was dehydrated. We got some cooled water down her but diidn't drink much at all. We couldn't settle her back to sleep for 2 hrs. She cried for ages, the weird thing was that she kept opening her mouth really wide, as if yawning but keeping her mouth open then panting and her breathing was really fast. Eventually she just zonked in my arms until 7.45am. Woke up happy and smiley but still panting and breathing very quick. We have called the emergancy drs who are putting it down to the jabs, we have been told to continue giving ibruprofen and keep her fluids up. I'm not sure this is down to her jabs? Her throat sounds very dry and i'm worried that all the crying she did at my mums has hurt her. Sorry this is long but any ideas would really be appreciated, as always i have no faith in my drs. You would think that because her breathing is effected they would check her over but nope they want it to get worse before they even see her. She has been napping for 1hr 30mins and not a murmur, so unlike her.
Please does anyone have any ideas? tia

Are her lips blueish or her fingernails? That is a sign that she is not getting enough oxygen. Usually crying doesnt "hurt" them but if she cried for a long time, maybe her throat is bothering her :pardon: Panting is not common and I wouldnt write it off to shots. I would definitely keep an eye on it and if it doesnt get better, I would just take her to the ER instead of call.

How many breaths per minute is she doing while napping (if she still is)?

Thanx Rachel, no her lips & fingernails are fine thank god but i will keep an eye out for them changing colour. I wasn't convinced about the panting being down to shots either, yes a fever or a rash but not this. I will check her breaths per minute but i know earlier when she was just sitting after she got up from a 2hr10 min nap she was panting away like she had run a marathon bless her. She just took 4oz formula and thankfully 3 oz water but still puffed away. She is napping now and if she is still the same i will take her in.
Re: crying, i do think she had cried hard for some time before my Mum called us, so yeah i can imagine it would rasp her throat if she had been crying hard like that for a while.

Just thought i would update this post.

Amber hasn't stopped panting and is really miserable so we have had her back at the emergancy drs. Poor baby has another viral infection, in her button nose this time It's full of mucus and her throat is red raw. The vomitting is coming on aswell. They have checked her lungs and are happy that the panting is only because she is struggling to breath through her nose and not anything more serious. Looks like she will be staying dosed up all week bless her, can't wait for her to be well again it is one thing after another with both of them.

Anyway thanks for your in put Rachel!

I am glad you found the cause.....and your baby is being treated. I was also going to say lack of oxygen...one of our twins did this at 2.5 months and we took him to the ER and he had RSV and was hospitalized for a week. Poor baby couldn't breath. It was scary how fast it came on. Hope for a quick recovery for your girl!

I happy she is on meds now and can get better soon. Isn't it amazing how even when a Dr. tells us something odd, our mommy instinct kicks in and we can help more than someone who went to school for it?
