Around that age, we used shoes with laces. It was the only way to keep from loosing shoes. There are very few shoes out there with laces for toddlers. Stride rite has a couple and if you shop around you can find more, but it's not that common. At that age, I hated velcro, it drove me nuts.

Now, we are using velcro because they like to do things themselves.

What works for us... light up shoes!!! My boys love them and will keep their sneakers on for naps if I'd let them! They are always trying to find them and put them on. All of their sandals, slip-ons, other sneakers- they did go through a stage of wanting them off- but not these kind! Right now they have Spidey ones!

My son takes off his velcro stride rite shoes all of the time, but he never takes off his Robeez Tredz (they have elastic type laces and velcro). I am so tickled that we have a shoe that he leaves alone :)

Mine take off pretty much everything, except for their pedipeds. I don't know why, but these seem to stay put.

[SIZE=10pt]My two take them off constantly. If one of them can't get theirs off ~ they'll take off their brother/sisters' DS always takes his off in the car. Never fails we get to wherever we're going and we have to put his shoes and socks back on :umm:

The only shoes they can't take off themselves (although they pull each others off) are Robeez.

    THANKS!!!!!

I love this age but I am constantly reshoeing and resocking 4 little feet!! Yesterday I sat in the backseat with them while dh drove and we made a game out of leaving our shoes on!! I am always running behind and finding 4 socks and 4 shoes all over the house or car - !! I am going to Robeez and pediaped online RIGHT NOW!! and the light up thing - great idea! My 2 would probably LOVE those!!

I don't think I fought them on the issue. They had cold feet for a while, but they survived! They didn't take of their Robeez though.....I guess that's what I did. FOGGY memory!
