    Some background:

This is my first IVF cycle and we transferred one grade A- 6-cell and one grade B+ 8-cell.

    Betas:
    12 DPO 41
    14 DPO 112
    16 DPO 378
20 DPO 3769 and Progesterone 77 (Nothing seen in uterus this day)
22 DPO 6608 (gestational sac only measuring 4w6d)

At 31 DPO and we were thrilled to see a beautiful beating heart at 120 bpm, measuring 6w3d. We also saw a second gestational sac but it is only measuring 5w2d with no yolk or fetal pole yet. I have a f/u ultrasound next Friday.

RE Nurse is not very hopeful anything will develop. But she was also 90% confident I was having an ectopic last week b/c my uterus was EMPTY at 4w6d but my hcg was so high.

I am preparing myself for the fact that the second baby will not materialize. Just wondering if there is ANY reason to retain hope at this point that it still may turn out OK?

Congrats to you all and thanks for any feedback...
    XO ~ Holleigh

You just never know! I know its hard not to think about, but what will happen will happen whether you worry yourself or not and its amazing what can materialize.
Keep your hopes up until you have a reason not too. I wish you the best of luck!

Thank you to E&M's Mom for the feedback. Your twins are adorable!! I envy you living in Alaska too... I know they have the most amazing summers!

I am staying positive. Just hoping I might get some real life feedback from others who have been in similar situations. Either way we are thrilled!!

At 6 weeks and 2 days, we saw one sac with heartbeat, and the second sac looked empty. We went back at 7w1d and saw both babies with strong heartbeats!! I am now 27w4d with boy/girl twins!! I pray you see your second baby this week!!

    11/17 - 3rd beta (18dp5dt) and 1st u/s (5w2d) saw one sac Bhcg 4393, P4 >40, E2- 1128
    11/21 u/s and b/w because of spotting still no fetal pole; Bhcg 13600, P4 >40, E2- 1029
11/24 6w2d u/s saw 110 bpm and saw another but only sac nothing else
    12/1 7w2d u/s confirmed TWINS A 150bpm measure 7w0d B 146bpm measure 7w0d

    Totally possible!!

    18 dpIUI ~ HCG: 915, P4: 89
    22 dpIUI ~ HCG: 4290

6wks 5 days first u/s shows one beating heartbeat at 136 bpm. It took her several tries to see into the second sac, we could see the sac but nothing in it at first. We finally found a heartbeat but it was unmeasurable.

    8wks 6 days second u/s ~ Baby A : 182 bpm measuring 9 wks ~~~ Baby B: 179 bpm measuring 9 wks 1 day

They are now almost 4 months old! That early on they are searching for something in the millimeter's, and it's sometimes very easy for it to hide behind the other baby!! Hang in there, your HCG levels are very indicative of more than one baby!

I've heard that six weeks u/s showed one baby and then the next u/s another one showed up. Wishing you lots of luck at your next u/s!! Congratulations on your pregnancy. :) :)

At 6 weeks I had two empty sacs until they used the tranvaginal ultrasound and then you could see them. Not sure which kind of ultrasound you had. I've also heard of some docs who won't use ultrasound until 7 or 8 weeks for the very reason that you often can't see everything yet. Sending out good wishes.

I guess it all depends on each person and each cycle.

My first IVF cycle we were expecting twins but the same thing happened to me. Baby B's sac never grew beyond 6w1d. I delivered baby A (my daughter) at 35w5d. This time we are expecting twins again and at 6w2d I went into the ER b/c I was bleeding and passing clots. I was told Baby A had a very low HB and baby B's sac was empty. We went into my RE's office the next day and both babies were fine with HB over 120. So I guess it can happen either way. I really hope everything goes well for you and both babies are fine. :)

seems like you got a lot of positive stories, but i'll add mine. i didnt do ivf - but had an early u/s due to spotting and all they saw was one sack no hb. that was about 5-6wks. i didnt have another us till 9 wks because they basically told me to go home and wait to miscarry. isnt that nice? anyways. at 9 wks they saw 2 strong hbs. and now i habe 2 healthy 18 month old girls. 6 wks is soooo early. its hard to see much. just wait and see in a few wks and you'll know for sure. good luck
