Is labour going to happen soon?

This last week I have been on bed rest for high blood pressure.. which has been a super fun time! Ok, not really, but at least it has been a short run for bed rest.

Anyway, the other night we went into L&D after I had some bloody discharge.. it wasn't a lot, but it was enough and a change in what there normally is, so I went in. They checked my cervix and I am 2 cm dilated, and they figured the blood was from the cervix starting to move as there was no evidence of abruption or anything like that. Today, I am pretty sure that I lost my mucous plug. I have had a few tightenings, I have felt a bit like my period is coming on, but very very mild.. not at all like there is any serious contracting going on. I have also had some episodes of nausea the last few days.. I haven't had that since morning sickness ended at about 6 months.

Is this what pre-labour is like? How long does this part go on for?

Eek! I am nervous.. as much as I am excited to give birth, I am also terrified, and I want them to stay in as long as possible!

I lost my mucous plug with my older DD and she was born about 24 hours later. I know others who have lost it and had to be induced. It's just not that good of an indicator.

I went in at 35w4d with almost exactly the same symptoms as you (except I didn't lose my plug). High BP, spotting, and a lot of what I thought were bh's. I was 3cm dialated and contracting when I was checked in triage. About 5 hrs later I gave birth to 2 beautiful (and healthy!!) boys.

That's not to say that this is what is happening with you...just noting the similarities. Good luck and try not to worry! Stay off your feet and try to relax. Cook, cook, cook!! :)

it definitely sounds like it could be the very beginning of labour - but don't worry! it could go on for weeks. ;) just take it easy, stay hydrated & go & get checked any time you feel the need to.

    sending you good cooking vibes!

It sounds like something is happening! If I had to guess, I'd say you're going to be the first one out of our boat.

It definitely sounds like you are getting close. Those 'period-like' cramps were the real deal for me, so don't hesitate to go in and be monitored/checked.
