Is it too late to try?

We keep putting it off. It seems like something always came up. DH with Shingles, out of town, etc... But the problem is still not resolving itself. Kaylee has started to sleep thru the night on her own. Usually 7:30/8:00 pm to 5-6 am. Sarah will go to bed at the same time, but wake between 10-11pm, again between 12-2 am. I have tried keeping her in her crib. But usually by 1-2 am I break down & put her in bed with me so I can get some sleep. I work 4 days a week. And I just give in at the hope of a few hours sleep. However, Dh & I are getting to the point that we just want our bed back. I want to roll over & not worry about where she is, if I'm going to wake her, am I too close to her, etc... So we want/plan to start CIO this weekend. I have heard the older they are the are the harder it gets. At this point, we rock them to sleep initally.

Any suggestion on CIO this late in the game???

    Thanks!

No, it's not too late to try. Keep in mind some kids don't do well with it. For my dd, CIO does not work. For DS it did/does. Good luck!

I did it this summer...Ellie was about 18mo!! So, no, I don't think 8.5 months is too old. Ellie's problem was that she woke up once in the middle of the night for sippy of milk. It only took a few nights before she slept through.

My advice: Be tough and don't give in. It's hard, but it's worth it in the long run!

    Good luck!

Nope, not at all. We did CIO with Emilie and Trevor at 10 months. We have done CIO with all 3 kids and they are great sleepers. Good luck. My suggestion, just be consistent.

Nope never too late! We still practice it after many many months (started at 7.5 months), some kids are not great sleepers. :( Go for it and don't turn back Jess. Good luck. PM me if you need anything! :hug99:

They're still young enough. :) We started our CIO/Night Weaning routine at 6.5 months and did it in stages. First we established bedtime, then started watering down formula, then decreasing the amount in the bottle, then moving the cribs from the room, then naps, etc. It took us until 10 months old before the girls were sleeping through the night and at naps in their own room in their cribs but it was worth all the steps we took. CIO was definitely effective for many of those steps.
