Both babies take an hour morning nap and 2 hr afternoon nap,. That is until recently. They take morning nap ok takes a little bit for them to go to sleep but otherwise no problems. Afternoon nap ds will sleep ok but wake up after an hour or so. DD either does not fall asleep at all or does for the last half hour or so which means she's been in her room for about an hour to an hour and half before falling asleep. Is it time for one nap? Ds I think is going to be my problem but I want them to stay on the same schedule and I just don't know how long he can go with only one nap. So any advice to make this transition easier? I am going to start tomorrow by pushing back nap time to right after lunch and continue to push it back to roughly 1pm does that sound ok? They eat lunch about 11:30/noon right now. Tell me how bad this is going to be until they get used to it??
    Thanks

Mine did that just after a year too, but weren't truly ready for one nap till 18 mos. Since they are still sleeping for an hour in the afternoon, I think you might not quite be there. (I personally coveted that time when they were down! Still do!)

I Just kept pushing their a.m. nap to be later and later. Now we are around 1:00 p.m. pretty consistently still.

We went to one nap early. I LOVE it. They go down around noon and sleep for 2-3 hours. We have longer times to go on outings, parks, etc in the morning and the afternoon. And I LOVE that 2-3 break.
BTW We went to 1 nap, because Syd refused to nap at 1 or both naps. We spent 2 months dealing with her screaming most of the day. It was a nightmare. Sam could have stayed on 2 naps for a long time. But I forced her to be on Syd's schedule. She adapted fine.

You might not want to try to keep them up til 1. You might need to ease into it. We started around 11am and gradually pushed it to noon.

Yeah, I would take it about a half hour a week or every two weeks.

We switched to one nap at 17 months, mainly because I had to have down to one nap before my oldest DD started school again. There are still days I feel mine would take 2 naps, but it doesn't work with my oldest's school schedule. But it is nice to have that long morning time to get out, but they do get cranky on some days.

Thanks everyone. They only took one nap yesterday and it wasn't to bad thankfully. Does anyone know how long it will take for them to get used to the new schedule?
