I am really trying to eat healthy to help with the weight loss, but it is so hard to eat healthy when I only have time to grab something before it is time to feed and change diapers. I have lost about 40lbs. but know that the last 20 will be hard.

i may be alone in this but i say HELL NO. we tried and tried during the first few months but ended up doing so much takeout and fast food because we had no time or energy to prepare anything healthy. it's only been in the last few months that we've been able to get back to regular dinners.

You can eat healthy even if you have to order out.
If you are having pizza, you can get a veggie slice or a regular slice with a salad.
Or if you are having Chinese you can get steamed instead of fried.

ha ha! i'm with piccologirl! i struggled to eat healthy meals, but the only time that really happened was when someone brought a meal to our house!! and for the first few months during the day i really didn't have time to eat, i dropped my 50 lbs that i gained in a month. so i figured that whatever i ate at night was ok, as long as i didn't have to clean a huge messy kitchen! i think we ate chinese/pizza and various other takeout for the first few months. we are back to our normal healthy eating now though and it feels great.

It is hard. I delievered in the winter so I just picked one night a week and made a bunch of food in crock pots. Tossed in meat and veggies. Easy to clean up and make and one night of cooking and I had food for the week. Also buying healthy snacks ( stocked up on those) I am a big healthy organic eater and I find the easiest way to eat healthy is to only have healthy options in the house. It is too tempting when you have unhealty food. Also having family alternate cooking dinners was a huge help.

maybe you could make bbq chicken, or whatever you like, with less fat, in the evening for a couple of days in advance and eat it with some salad (lettuce, tomato, cucumber, peppers, onion, a little bit of oil, lemon juice and a little bit of salt) or/and frozen veggies that boil/microwave in minutes (try to avoid carrots, corn, peas, beans). I know that green veggies help more at losing the weight than the colored ones. you also can eat some fruits, but depends, if you are breastfeeding, you might want to try to avoid the raw fruits. in my country is believed that they make babies gassy.
and drink lots of water with lemon juice.
well, I don't know if you will have the energy and will to be on a diet when the babies are so young. you might be to tired, but I think this could be pretty simple to follow.
    good luck!

I think so. I bottle fed my guys so I think I had a little more time than breast fed babies. Also, being on mat leave we don't have a whole lot of money to spend on take-out. When the babies are napping or playing in their chairs I get dinner/lunches ready. We eat a lot of salads, chicken with rice and veggies. Basically dinners that I can do all the prep work in advance and then take a few minutes to actually cook. Make a big pot of rice and freeze portions so that you only have to make rice once in a while.
The other thing I do is each Sunday I make a menu for the week. That way there is no 'so what do you want for dinner?' at 5:30. It also makes it easier to go your grocery shopping.
And try not to worry too much about losing the weight. Almost all of my weight 42 pounds) came off the first 2 months. Just think, almost everything you do, you do twice so you get more exercise than most new mum's :)

Hey there's always Kentucky Grilled Chicken! I won't admit how often I pick up a 10 piece meal after work...

But seriously, there are good choices you can make even if you live on take-out. Veggie pizza with a big salad, turkey subs (with mustard instead of mayo), wrap sandwiches, Naked Burritos from Baja Fresh, etc. Even McDonald's has salads. And summertime cooking is easy, because you can throw a couple of chicken breasts on the grill, slather some BBQ sauce on them, and boil sweet corn. Quick dinner!

    Good luck!
