My girls have been off and on drippy noses for a few weeks now. Arwen has been throwing up for the past 4 nights but only at night when she has been asleep for a little while. She wakes up, starts crying and then :bad: . I have had some suggestions that she may have post nasal drip as she seems totally fine during the day but then when she lays down to go to sleep she gets sick. We have a play day at the library today and I'm not sure if I should bring them. Obviously, I don't want to expose other kids if my girls are sick but believe it or not, I'm not sure if they are. Is post nasal drip contagious? We have only been out once or twice in 3 weeks and I'm going crazy with boredom as are the girls. I feel like this will never end. What am I suppose to do? Keep them in the house for the next 5 months? It's not even winter yet and these colds seem never ending.
I would take them out. If the runny nose is clear in color, then it's probably just allergies. I know others will disagree with me, but I don't keep them home for every runny nose. Just keep the tissues handy and wipe their noses frequently. Ainsley will throw up sometimes due to post nasal drip.
I would take them out too but I'm not sure if I would bring them to the library. If the fluid is clear it could be nasal drip that is an allergy and not contagious but you aren't sure. Is it still warm enough to take them to a park and let them (and you) get some fresh air? Or, maybe take them to a mall to get out and walking for a little while?
I'd take them out, but not to the library. I try not and bring mine around other children because I hate when other children w/ drippy noses are exposing mine.
I probably wouldn't take them to the library, but somewhere outside just incase. A park or field where they can run around and hopefully clear "their" heads a little bit too
I probably wouldn't take them to play with other kids until she has stopped throwing up. You're probably right about the cause, but if there's any possibility of it being a stomach virus, I wouldn't want to take any chances. I do take mine just about anywhere if they just have runny noses. (Sorry....) It's practically all winter long, and all the other kids seem to have them too. However, you could still take them out to a playground or something. I would just try to stay outside and out of confined spaces.
Nasal drainage is a big headache for us. It causes my kids to throw up and to get coughs that sound like pneumonia, but every time I take them to the doctor, it's always just drainage. I have no problem taking my kids out with runny noses or letting them play with kids who have runny noses. I agree with the pp who said that's practically all winter! I don't take them out when they have fevers, bad coughs, a lot of sneezing, or are lethargic.
