Is it ok to start and stop foods?

I started the boys on foods a few weeks ago and it has been rather stop and go. Once I started, we did it for a few days, then was went out of town, so we didn't do it. Then we started it again and then the boys got sick, so we stopped. Now with the holidays I still haven't been able to be consistent.

Do you think this is ok? I have only fed them cereal, green beans, and pears so far...

    What do you think?

Sure, why not? There's no magic age at which kids need to learn to eat solid food, so if you're a bit inconsistent at first it's no big deal. I started with cereal around six months but my girls really didn't catch on for about a month. Then I did a few different vegetables and fruits but stopped and started a bit due to trips and visitors and other things that interfered with our routine. My girls are now 19 months old and eat all sorts of foods just like all of their age mates. So I'm pretty certain that our slow start didn't hinder them at all.

I don't see a problem with it... although it depends on the babies. Mine have been STTN for 2 months but last night we had to skip the evening meal... and DS woke up starving at 5am.

I think since you are just starting out and they are not really depending on it to help fill them-it's fine.

You are fine! At their age they are just practicing anyway!!!

I would say fine too. We were so inconsistent with solids from 4 months until 12 months.

At that age we would skip for a few days if we just got busy. It's not like they're going to forget how to eat. It just depends how much of a hurry you're in to get them eating lots of foods -- we weren't.

We still tend to be a bit inconsistent at times. When we first started, it was about like you described. We just couldn't get going. They had a stomach bug last week so we are just now building back up to three meals a day as we had to hold off for awhile to let their tummies heal. I think you'll be ok. :)
