    Constantly touch his privates?

Sometimes he even pulls his pants down to do it!

The other day he 'mooned' his brother.

    Is this typical?

I wouldn't say it is completely normal. However, he might be constantly doing because he gets a positive reaction (ie: laughing). At 6 he is old enough to be told that that area is a private place and to be kept private from others. This is what I have taught my kids.

Not sure about the pants pulling down part, but I can say that my 6 month old automatically grabs himself every time his diaper is off. It must be ingrained in boys. Like father, like son. ;)

Yup, totally BOY behavior. I correct it often, but is it one of those things that boys do.

Yup normal. My two both do it. When I catch them I ask the normal mom questions:
Do you have to go the bathroom?
    Does it itch?
    Does it hurt?

If the answer is no (which is 99.99999% of the time) I nicely tell them to get off of it. I wish I could say that they out grown it, but come on we all have seen grown men "adjusting" themselves.

Mine don't pull their pants down to do it, but I catch them probably once a day grabbing themselves. And I ask the same questions. I think it's absent-minded habit most of the time.

I think it is totally normal.

When I see Noam doing that I do what another poster mentioned... I ask if he has to pee, if it's iching, if it hurts. If the answer is no then I tell him that he should keep his hands out of his pants. He does it less now than he did when he was younger.

    It is definitely habit-forming.

I sometimes tell Noam that he can do it all he wants while he is in his bed or in the bath, but otherwise it is inappropriate.

    Good luck.

I agree, totally normal boy behavior all 3 of my boys have gone through that. My boys also think it is hysterical to moon each other they are 14, 11 and 9 and I see no end in sight to that one. The pants down thing I think is typical too - has his hands down his pants because it feels good and his pants down because he is just that innocent . I would not make a huge deal of it or embarrass him, I would just whisper to him to take his hand out of his pants. He will outgrow the constantly part!

    Goodness yes it is normal.

I think adult men would do it too if they could get away with it :p
