Is it just my kids?

My kids have the tendency that on days off of school: they are up at the crack of dawn.  Try to get them up at the same time on a school day and it is like waking the dead.

They are off today and I sent them back to bed to at least 7:30.  Is it just my kids?

    Same here! Why????

I think my kids are like me- they prefer to wake on their own and hate being woken. I hate my alarm clock and could probably be up and out the door on time on my own if it wasn't for the mental block of that stupid alarm forcing me up. I wonder when I'll outgrow that. ;)

My daughter is the same way.  Today my husband is working from home and they are riding the bus today and could sleep in until 7:45.  My daughter was up at 6:30 ready to go.

Mine do that too and it's so annoying! Why do they do that?

I'm going to try lying to mine tonight and tell them they have school tomorrow and see if they sleep in. I don't know if they'll fall for it.

Yeah, Alice does that. Royce has the annoying internal alarm clock (just like his father) every day. I went in to wake him up this morning at 6:30 and he was lying in bed quietly playing with his toys.

We don't do alarm clocks here; flexible schedules. And they STILL do this! On the weekend, before dawn! On weekdays... lucky if they get up before 8!

Leighann, that is what I think too, like they have a plot to gaslight me.

Stephanie, that is a good point.  I know both kids are usually in better moods when they wake on their own as opposed to being woken up.

Glad we are not alone.  Though I will say they did sleep until 7:15 today.  I'll take anytime they sleep past 7.

Same here but I'm usually not the one they wake

My kids are weird. They are awake early no matter what day. It's a rare day that I have to wake them for school. I think they hear me start to move around at 5:45/6:00 and they just get up - even though they don't have to leave for school until 8:00. On weekends, or in the summer, they may sleep in until 7 or so, but they watch TV or play without waking me up. I love that part about them getting older!
