I'm noticing that my last couple of u/s have been quite painful. I'll be 30wks on Wed.

I love seeing them, but at my last one, the tech tried to get me a 3D pic, and I finally said "all set"...granted she was rolling around my belly for 1.5hrs...but man..especially right up the front, it's really starting to hurt!!

    Anyone else?

Mine didn't really hurt, but I was always really uncomfortable on that table. I had to keep rolling onto my side to avoid passing out. I actually did pass out once! Hang in there only a month or so left!

Yeah, I'm constantly having to sit up or roll around or else BAD things happen. Being on my back for that long is not fun at all, and my two are always in the worst possible position for whatever picture they're trying to take!

Mine are painful when the girls hide under my pelvic bones or behind my ribs. The definitely apply more pressure at the peri and are becoming less comfortable!

Mine became really uncomfortable too towards the end. The skin was so sensitive and if that u/s transducer thingy ever got dry- ouch! Plus being on my back for so long was pretty painful, too. I was having them every week from about 28 weeks, so, it kind of lost its initial appeal. Good luck- you're almost there!

[SIZE=10pt]It depended on what tech I had. There was one tech that I would have to tell her to not push so hard, or that I was "done" (unless she absolutely needed to see something else) Another tech though was very gentle, took their time, asked if I needed to sit up, switch positions, etc.

I would endure the pain as long as I could ~ as like you, I LOVED seeing them and their motions.

You're doing awesome!! Next time you have an U/S let the tech know that it is becoming uncomfortable. Hopefully they'll do something to help

Oh, and as a side note...I had an u/s tech a couple weeks ago who asked me to insert the wand myself when she was ready to check my cervix. She caught me off guard because nobody else had ever asked me to do that and it was so difficult...I mean, HELLO, my husband has to do my grooming because I can't reach!

I definitely agree that they are becoming less enjoyable. I absolutely love "seeing" my girls, but after about 30 minutes on my back with a full bladder, I'm miserable. :( Luckily the u/s tech at my OB's office is very understanding - she always let me sit up or roll to my side when I need to. I really thought I was going to pass out at my last u/s! I have one scheduled for next week and I'm almost not looking forward to it.

I hated u/s at the end of my pregnancy. I would get horribly nauses everytime I laid down flat on my back. I dreaded everyone of them from about 25 weeks on!!

After my ultrasound today, I told my mom that I was wincing most of the time. It was VERY uncomfortable. The tech had a very comfortable table so that wasn't the problem, it was the pressure on my belly. Both boys are very low.

Definitely know what you are talking about! I dread the last U/S's.....it is bittersweet, I love to see my babies again, but at the same time, feeling like I am going to pass out or throw up is really hard to take....my U/S lady is at least conscious of this and makes sure the table isn't too flat so I am sitting up a bit. I have my last one next Thursday at 33w4d and I am dread, dread, dreading it!

Mine haven't really been uncomfortable yet, but I have noticed the novelty has worn off even after just 4 of them (at 12, 16, 20 and 22 weeks). They take sooo long--I'm usually in the room for a good hour, between the internal and the external. The tech said my boys are the most difficult possible configuration so it takes longer.

They are a lot better than the NST's that come late in pregnancy.. The monitors are always missing the babies and have to be readjusted, and you don't really get to see the babies unless they can't find one which is kind of scary, but was always because they moved around so much.

I never needed a full bladder late in pregnancy for the ultrasounds. It shouldn't really matter at that point. But I know what you mean about being in that reclined position for so long.

The ultrasounds towards the end of my pregnancy were SO hard for me as well! My tummy was pretty sensitive & when they would press down it hurt in an unexplainable way. I also almost passed out at my final 2 ultrasounds & had to lay on my side. I *loved* seeing my girls though

As for the NST's, those could be a little challenging with trying to chase the babies around  They also itched quite a bit. I know that as soon as I would get the OK to take them off I would itch my tummy forever! If the nurse has a warm towel, that feels great to get all the gel off & to itch your tummy :good:

Totally agree with the bittersweet feeling I go through during each u/s. I love to see them, watch their heartbeat and all, but the pressure they put on my while I'm lying flat is so great I will pass out within 5min. Now, I request for the bed to be elevated at least 30-45deg if allowed, or a high pillow. My girl will retaliate (she literally kicked back!!) with the scanning probe if the doc or radiologist presses too hard on her!! Haha...so she's kinda protecting herself without having me to say anything! :D

You have to have a full bladder!!??? Is there a certain reason for that...like do they require that or it just gets full fast? The only sort of full bladder I had to have was for my NT Scan and they didn't require it to be full...they just wouldn't let me go to the bathroom beforehand. Ever since then they always have me empty my bladder (and pee in the cup for the urine test) before the ultrasound. I couldn't imagine a full bladder ultrasound right now. Ask why you have to have that full bladder?? U/S machines should be good enough nowadays where they don't need that.

I think I must be one of the lucky ones! My Peri's office is usually very quick and get what they need to get in record time. I was even done with my Level II in less than an hour. The ultrasound tech and the Peri are usually very gentle with the wand thingie and don't ever really push too hard. I love the ultrasounds. The only discomfort I have is laying flat. Since I have the dizzy problem and I've had breathing issues laying flat now too they usually move the head up so I'm more reclined which helps and I'm sure they'd let me take a break and roll to the side if I had to. The one thing that was painful last time was the vag u/s for cervical check. That one hurt! I don't know if it was because it was a student doing it and she just sucked or if the lack of intercourse is making everything painful down there. LOL ?? I'd tell the tech where it hurts and just say your tummy is really sensitive. I'm sure they wouldn't want to hurt you.

The worst part was they they did not want me to pee first so they could get better reading. and one time i was like "i am going to pee on the table"
    she let me go.

Oh man toward the end I was getting one 3 times a week and I had bad bad heart burn / acid reflux.. and the darn u/s wand over my tummy hurt my stretch marks sooo bad and I couldn't lay flat for too long because of the heartburn! At one of my last ones they were taking so long and I told them my heartburn is killing me and then puked all over myself

Yesterday I had a 1.5hour growth scan... and I can say yes, sure it was great seeing the girls, BUT IT HURT. I wanted to tell the lady giving me it: "you can only push so hard, or Im going to come off the table!" My babies are RIGHT on the surface all the time, and pushing hard hurts me and ticks them off! Baby A was NOT a happy camper.. :(

Mine didn't hurt but I definitely felt sick a lot there at the end. I almost always needed breaks, sips of water, and rolling to my side.

None of my u/s have been that long even my 'big' one was only 35-40 min.

My back will start to get uncomfortable, but I usually can just wiggle enough to change position just a little. Of course it's still early in the game so I guess things may get worse.

I hated ultrasounds after about 26 weeks. It was uncomfortable to lie on my back for that long, and I started feeling panicky about being up on the table. Plus my nether parts were just so sore -- even though nobody touched them directly, just having pressure on my lower abdomen was very icky.

Fortunately at least they stopped making me have a full bladder.

Oh yeah, I've had to have the full bladder at my two u/s...and it was HORRIBLE!! The last one, she let me get up in between babies to go pee, but she said I was just getting to where it would be better to see...that's something I've never understood...there should be plenty of fluid in there with those two!! I'm hoping I don't have to be so full next time! :)
