Why is it that on the right side of my body, specifically my hip, I have a perfect little shelf for carrying the babies but on the left side it's like a freakin slide and I can't seem to girp them with my hip. Grrrrrr. I would like to give my right side a rest as my lower back/hip is achey. Do I have to force myself to just carry them on that side till I get used to it or is it even possible to get used to? Is it just one of those left/right things we are born to do and not do like throwing a ball? I mean, I'm left handed but I do almost EVERYTHING with my right hand (and apparently, my right hip  ) Sorry, just a small, cheesy vent.
Ha - I'll send you some of my hips - I've got plenty! Would you also like some thighs to go with those hips?

LOL, but in all seriousness, be careful how you're holding them on your hips. I had my DD1 young and had been working with (and carrying) kids around since age 8. I went into the chiropractor (sp?) at age 21 and I've developed slight scoliosis. He said, wow, do you carry babies around on your right hip? He knew just from looking at my xrays. So be careful!!

I also have (congenital) scoliosis and always found it easier to carry to the right (with the "slide" to the left), which does of course not help, but does indeed may hurt, the existing condition. You might want to look into it.
I seem to have this same problem. I just think it is because I am right handed and that's my dominant side.
thanks all for the responses. While I fully enjoyed the laughter from the posts, I had no idea that it could actually become a serious physical condition. I have an ob appt. this monday so I'll be sure to ask about it. Or perhaps I should just make an appt. with the chiropractor. I'm sure it' can't hurt to get some small adjustments here and there.

Nuh uh. I am informed that the hip lingo du jour for it on females is a "muffin top." *pats muffin top* ETA: By the way, yep, I have the same issue carrying. I can't carry Wesley for poop on my right side, but the left is A-okay.
