For a couple of weeks now Aiden sleeps through the night...from about 8-9 until 6-7am!! However Noah can eat at 8, 9, or 10 and still be up at 2,3 or 4 am. I am only giving him 2 ounces at that feed and sometimes he takes that and sometimes he doesn't take the full 2 ounces. The thing is I tried rocking him back to sleep, using the paci etc and he just won't return to sleep...if he does he's back up again in another 1/2 -1 hour later. He's wide awake at this time too!!
Aiden is a couple of pounds heavier (maybe 3) so I wasn't sure if it has something to do with weight...Noah's reflux is much worse and I wonder if that's what's waking him up? If so I have no idea what else to do other than what I'm doing...any thought?

How many ounces is a regular feeding? I am assuming it is more than 2 ounces? How big is he? Kayla was sleeping through at under 9 pounds. If he is waking and not taking 2 ounces then it sounds like he is starting to wake out of habit not hunger. Whenever this happened with one of my two I left them in their beds and did the back rub, soft whispering. I didn't want them to get out of bed because I wanted them to realize it was still night time. I did all I could do to comfort them while in their bed.

Do you think it could be time for a more regimented schedule? I know you say the feedings can vary by up to 3 hours, maybe he needs to be more set? At that age I was doing a top off feeding at 10pm and then they would be set until morning.

We had a very similar situation. Our bigger girl started sleeping thru at 2 1/2 mos, and our smaller refluxer woke at about 3 or 4am. She actually would go back to sleep with a pacifier, but the doctor wanted me to keep feeding her until she got bigger (at least 10 pounds) I don't think you mentioned his weight? I actually quit feeding her that feeding shortly after because she really wasn't interested! She is still very tiny (16 lbs 5 oz at 11 mos), but she is doing great. Sorry, not much help. At their 2 month appt Noah was 11 lbs and Aiden was 14 lbs. I think based on my scale that Noah is 14 lbs.
He takes 5 ounces every 3 hours with cereal/formula every other feed.
I've tried feeding cereal/formula as the last feeding and have topped him off at 10 but he still gets up at 3/4..i thought maybe he wants to eat b/c he is uncomfortable

My boys are basically the exact same weight, and one sleeps thru (7-7) while the other wakes at 2 and then possibly again before morning. I think personality and habit can have a lot to do with it. I don't feel right trying to break Ben of his 2am "habit" yet, because I'm not convinced he doesn't need the feeding (he always bf, and I've even tried giving him a bottle to see just how MUCH he eats--it's a full 5 oz!). Is it possible they metabolize their food differently?

I do know many moms with reflux babies that wake constantly during the night though, so that could be your cause. Hope things improve for him!

I would give him more than 2 ounces at a time if he is waking that frequently. At 3 months mine were getting up to 4 ounces at a feeding depending on how hungry they were.

He gets 5 oz at every feeding...I thought if I reduced the amount to 2 oz at that 3 am feeding he might realize it wasn't worth getting up for..and he gets so sleepy during that feed that he never takes more than that anyway..

If it is the reflux waking him up, do you sleep him on his side or back? With Lukas, he's better on his side and sleeps through the night. Also, do you give him a few minutes before you pick him up? Babies are antsy at night, and he may just need a few minutes to get back to sleep.
