Kelby is so into sports. At what age are they suppose to be hitting a baseball. Kelby loves to be pitched too and will hit the ball occassionally. He is really good at throwing the ball up himself and hitting it with the bat. My husband thinks this is awesome, but are 2 1/2 year old suppose to be able to do this?

I think that's great. I'm not sure what age is normal for that type of development. The only time ours can hit the ball is if it's on the tee.

I should add.....Kaylee can only hit it off a tee and even then the tee goes flying too, She is such a girl....LOL

I have one child who could do that at age 2, the other couldn't really be bothered. I was soo surprised when we started coming into contact with children years older that had no idea how to even hold the bat never mind hit being pitched to or throwing the ball up to themselves. I guess now looking back it was a little 'early' but I don't usually think like that. The child that was into it at a young age is actually one age group higher in youth baseball than they are supposed to be but my child is also larger in size so noone would even know unless they asked my child how old they were. My child quite honestly was 'bored' with the whole tball thing since we had been pitching for well over 3 years by the time tball started. We had no plans to move beyond the age group it was the coaches that made it happen based on ability.

Maybe you have a proballer on your hands?

Sounds awesome to me. We have never even tried! (Note to self: purchase a bat and ball...)

Sounds 'advanced' to me. We bought the boys a plastic golf set for Easter. They can make good contact with the ball, but only with a 'chopping' swing, not a 'pendulum' swing.

I think it's so stinkin' cute to watch DH try to teach them. When I got out of the shower on Easter I could hear him giving them WAY more of a physics lesson than they could possibly comprehend "See, if you hit DOWN on the ball the trajectory goes up. Look, if you hit it this way, you can give it backspin.", but it was so cute I had to giggle instead of roll my eyes.

My oldest loves baseball and was able to do this at age 2-2.5. Now that the twins are watching their brother play baseball on a team one has been able to do it for about a month and the other one is just starting too. It is so amazing how fast they pick up things. I think DH will get his wish and have at least one boy that will love baseball for life.

Dh is big on sports, the boys have been watching them since birth..lol

For xmas they got a bat and ball and a t ball set, basketball game, and a hockeyset. The got a golf set last year for easter.

They are great at hitting the puck with the hockey stick, DH wants to buy them a net so they can play outside. Basketball they are really good at too. they have the little tikes net but they also have an arcade stlye basketball game where the net moves around. Baseball we have only tried a few times and they are able to hit the ball when its pitched to them but if they have the ball in their hands they are most likly trying to play hockey with it.

Yeah, I think that is really good coordination for 2. Mine are big on soccer and really play DH and I were amazed that they can kick and play like they are really playing soccer. We take them to the park and they have to bring their soccer ball on the slide, in the swing and they love kicking around. We don't have a tee ball set yet but I was looking at one last week I may buy for the spring when we are outside alot since they like to play catch.

Thanks everyone!! Well he cried and cried last night because we didn't want to watch baseball. He does the same thing during football season. He is crazy about the sports and often gets them confused. Such as he will hit the baseball run and tackle Kaylee and then yell touchdown. :)

Sounds great! I had a nephew that could do that at 2 and Michael was pretty good around age 3. Matthew doesn't even come close but my husband says it will all even out as they get a little older so we will see.
