    Hi Susan,
I have heard that high BP can put a pregnant woman on bedrest. Were you placed on strict or modified bedrest? How far along are you?
I was placed on Modified Bed rest for Pre-term contractions last Monday. I am 29 wks along & praying to carry my identical twin boys to 35-36 weeks. Anyone out there who can give some suggestions on how to pass the time on bedrest & ease anxiety?

I never had high bp, until I was pregnant. From almost the beginning they flagged it as an issue...and at 22 weeks, I started home monitoring in case it was white coat hypertension.

At my 25 week appointment, we were planning to discuss a modified work schedule (so I could be off my feet) when my growth u/s showed Jake was IUGR. I was sent home on modified bedrest and told to stay on my left side and rest. I could still work, but from bed. I took my bp all day.

I managed to stay pregnant until 36 weeks, never hospitalized and never on medication. My bp always came down when I was on my left side. I also didn't develop pre-eclampsia. I did get the steriod shots at 28 weeks (i think)...Becca was fine at 36 weeks, Jake spent about 11 days in the hospital He still has some respiratory issues, but otherwise is fine.

For me, i firmly believe the bedrest made a difference. By keeping my bpressure down and limiting my activities, Jake was able to get more nutrients. He and Becca were still born quite small, but healthy.

All that said, your BP isn't that bad, they worry more about the smaller number.

Hi, I'm sorry you are experiencing high blood pressure...no fun. I've never had an issue with high blood pressure, but definitely did when I was about 30 weeks along or so. I was put on bedrest for high blood pressure and preterm labor. One might say the two go hand in hand, I guess! I don't remember my stats, but I remember my BP spiking any time I'd get up to use the restroom or something. I developed pre-eclampsia and had horrible edema, and that probably helped cause the high bp as well.

I was in the hospital at 23w due to what the docs want to say is pre-eclampsia. My ob and I both think that it was undiagnosed BP issues before pregnancy. I was in the hospital for 2 weeks. I came home on BP medicine (labertol) in addition to strict bedrest. My bp will go anywhere from 130/60 - 150/low 80's. But normally without me being pregnant it was in the range of 132/70's? I will admit, it is better now that I am home than when I was in the hospital, I think that the fact that I was just in the hospital made my BP stay up. But my OB and I are happy that it is better and I will do whatever she wants me to do just as long as I don't have to go back into the hospital...good luck!

Hey, Susan. I also had high bp 136/90 and was put on bedrest this week. They discovered also that I have a sinus infection. I've been feeling kind of dizzy and lightheaded for about a week now....which can be signs of an infection I read...so it's good to know what is causing it. I was put on antibiotics on Tuesday, hoping this will get rid of both the infection and the high bp. I was reading that it is possible for an infection to cause your bp to go up.

    Hi ladies,

You can add me to the group. I have no history of high BP, but around 23 weeks my BP was 140/90, which put me on immediate modified bedrest. Last week I did really good about keeping my levels low and under control (by doing absolutely nothing all week  ), so the dr sent me back to work full-time just to prove to my disability insurance that my BP would rise again... and rise it did. I lasted all of 3 hours at the office (and I have a desk job). My BP that morning upon waking was 128/74. After 3 hours of being at the office, my BP was 146/96. I called the dr and he sent me straight back home, and back on modified bedrest for the rest of my pregnancy. I am almost 29 weeks, and the dr is estimating delivery to be around 34-35 weeks.

Take care everyone, and keep those babies cooking!

At 17 weeks I was hospitalized for 3 days due to extremely high BP (170/110). After discharge, my doctor put me on bed rest and I am currently 22 weeks pregnant. The bed rest and lots of meds keeps my BP between (135/75) and (145/95). It's still not great, but it's better than it was. I've had hypertension for 15 years, so this increase during pregnancy was not completely unexpected.

Hi Mrs. G and the rest of the ladies,

I have had high blood presure last month of my first preagnancy, but was not put on bedrest.
But I am on hospital bedrest since 9 days ago, my cervix is open 1-2 cm, and I am contracting from time to time. I am on Magnesium and occasional turb shots. I am currently 30 weeks and 2 days, but hoping to hold those babies in me for at least 2 -3 more weeks (crossing my fingers, the longe the better)
would love to some advice on passing time (thank g-d for internet) and ease of anxiety as well!!!
Have to tell that the hardest part of this thing is missing my son and worring about babies being so premature...

    Good luck to all!!
