We have the cribs for the girls, but after taking a breastfeeding class this weekend, we realized how tired we might get during the beginning. Is anyone planning on useing a bassinet or co-sleeper for their twins? If so what kind have you found to be the best? Thanks.

There are lots of options out there (Arm's Reach Co-sleeper, pack n plays, bassinets, etc.). We opted for two bassinets in the very beginning. We have a very small bedroom. We put one bassinet on each side of the bed. That way, both DH and I could be "in charge" of one baby per night.

:hi: Welcome to Twinstuff! Feel free to stop by our breastfeeding forum if you have any questions!! :) The link is in my signature! :D

We used 2 bassinettes in the beginning because our house is soooo not baby/kid friendly. Our bedroom is upstairs while the nursery is downstairs. No options. So, for the first 8 weeks, they stayed in our HUGE room with us. After that, yes, it was a pain going up and down the stairs with their many night wakings. The bassinettes worked great. We have our current baby in one in our room right now.

This is what we did as well. It was much easier to have them by us for the first few months and each of us having a baby during the night. Plus, I think they liked the coziness of a bassinet instead of a big crib. :)

we used a pack n play with the bassinett part on the top for the first 3 months - it worked great for us! I LOVE the bassinet on each side of the bed idea but my dh would never get up with any of our kids so I would have had to walk to the other side of the bed to get the one on his side!

    CONGRATULATIONS!!!!

We're going to be using the Arm's Reach cosleeper. I used it with my DD and it made life so much simpler and we are very happy with it. The only downside is that for any of the options (bassinets, PNP, cosleeper) you're going to have to sit up to take a baby in or out of it, which I didn't understand until after we had it set up. So it's up to your own preference & budget which type you buy.

The cosleeper will turn into a play yard later, you just drop the mattress to the bottom. However, if you're going to be doing any traveling and will need a place for the babies to sleep, or if you think you'll be needing the play yard feature in the future, the PNP is probably a better idea. It's lighter and easier to take places & move around. You could always strap it to the bed, if you want that added security. Of course, if you end up with babies who have personalities like my DD, a play yard is a complete waste because she hated every second of being in it!

Another option, if you have a limited budget and/or enough space in your room, is you could just strap a crib to the side of the bed ("sidecar" it) and use the crib itself instead of getting a new piece of equipment.

I used an Arm's Reach Co-Sleeper and it was terrific.

Made BF @ night so easy.

I think you should get a co sleeper. I loved it b/c the first couple of months they were up a lot and it is a lot less tiring to just grab a baby than have to get up out of bed and go to the nursery.

We are planning to use a co-sleeper. Our bedroom is quite small but we can just squeeze it in beside the bed. (Heh, maybe our bedroom wouldn't be so small if we didn't have so many bookshelves in there!) It takes a train wreck to wake DH in the night, so I'm not counting on him being able to hand me a baby--I figured this would get me the most sleep and notwithstanding the nighttime noises of newborns, I sleep even worse if I don't have them handy to check on!

We plan on using the bassinett part of the pack and play as well. We'll probably only keep them in our room for a month or two, that's what I did with my daugther.

I use the Arm's Reach co-sleeper and love it! I got it because the weight limit was much higher than a pack n play.
