Is AF ever going to show up?

Ok.. So it's been 3 weeks since I quit nursing/pumping. Every day since then I have had pretty awful menstrual cramps, and a gross amount of discharge. (Sorry TMI)... I keep thinking I've "started" and go to the bathroom, only to find ovulation type mucus, I either have to wear a panty liner or change my undies two or three times a day.. How long can it go on? Not that I want AF back, it's been great not having her visit.. BUT I have such bad cramps that I feel like I'm going to throw up, ALL day EVERY day.. Midol doesn't work.. IBprofin takes the edge off for a few hours... Anyone else have this issue?

I'm sooo sorry to reply without having an answer to your question, but I was just wondering what AF means. They're my initials and I don't think it means something good, lol.

I hope things get better soon. It must be tough having those cramps all the time.

I know it is different for everyone, but my AF started pretty quickly after I stopped pumping and I don't remember being overly crampy. Is it possible that you are pregnant again?

    Aunt Flo :)

I felt the same way all last week, with the ovulation mucous as well but I haven't stopped pumping or nursing yet. I don't know it means for either of us! And I know what you mean; I don't want mine back either but it would be nice to have an end to all the cramping.

    Check out internetslang.com.

I guess if I were you I would take an HPT. Your body is probably just having a time trying to adjust to everything. If you don't get it within another week or so & your HPT is Negative maybe call your OBGYN?

Yeah, not a chance I'm pregnant.. DH has been deployed since January... :headbang:
I do have an appt scheduled with my OB on the 9th to start birth control, so I guess if I haven't started by then I'll be able to talk to her about it..

I think everyone is different. I can't remember how soon I got AF after I stopped pumping for the boys. I probably already had had it actually. But I remember last month, I had cramps a two full weeks prior to AF coming. It was rather annoying! And then when AF came-I had NO idea it arrived... Grrrr.... It may just take time after stopping bf'ing?

Did you have a c-section? My cramps were WAY worse after my first. My doctor said it was normal and gave me prescription strength meds. As far as AF, it sounds like you just ovulated, so you probably won't see her for 2 weeks????

Ditto on everything you're experiencing! I quit pumping about 2 weeks ago and I'm just waiting for AF to show her face... though the longer I wait the more I wonder if I should take an hpt... God help me if it's positive!

that was my c-section experience, too. some of the worst cramps i've ever had in my life.

my cycle was all over the map, especially right after i stopped pumping. you might consider talking to your doctor if you're concerned that there's a problem.

I stopped pumping just over 1 month ago and still nothing ... and I only felt cramps one day. I wonder if I should be concerned too??

Can I just say how jealous I am that you guys who have stopped nursing/pumping still haven't gotten AF yet. My girls slept through the night three nights in a row and AF showed up on the fourth day. It was upsetting that I couldn't enjoy them sleeping all night since it meant AF reared her ugly head.

Man, I BF and pumped until 10 months but I got my AF btw 3-4 mos. Since then, I have had the worst cramping and discharge I have ever had. And since about 2 cycles ago I have started having very painful cramping around ovulation. I am wondering if this is how it will always be now unless I want to get back on the pill, which technically I don't need since DH had a V. :aggressive:

I am wondering the same thing. Everytime I've dropped a pumping I've had some mjor cramping, enough to pull out the celebrex and heating pad...but no AF. Now I'm down to one pumping a day and only 5oz, and am cramping again, so we'll see if it comes this time! Hang in there!

I actually got AF last week. :( I had awful cramps that I now know were ovulation cramps but when I actually AF, I had no cramping at all and only knew because I went to the bathroom.

I am still pumping and breastfeeding and we stopped feeding at night between 3-4 months and it took this long for AF to come back, thankfully!
