garrett and grant are teething BAD. they are extremely cranky, drooling like crazy and chewing on everything (the prefer my finger). Garrett has felt warm all day but tonight he felt even warmer. we took his temp and it was 100.9. do you think this is normal? should i call the doctor? he doesn't really show any other signs that it could be an illness.

    THANK YOU

Dh and I just took our boys to the ped. tonight and he said that a fever is normal but that it shouldn't get above 101. If it gets above that I would call. [IMG]

My kids have always had a fever with teething. As long as I can keep it under control with Tylenol or Motrin we're usually good. For us it can go on for a few days.

I usually use Motrin at night because it lasts longer.

My pedi keeps telling me a fever can't hurt them unless it gets to like 105. Personally, that high & I'd be in the er. I think some people say fevers don't go with teething, but just about every mom I've ever talked to says they do! Zoe just ran a fever today & she's been teething like crazy....I don't know how high hers was, though, I couldn't find the thermometer anywhere. If it were me, I'd probably wait it out a bit & see if it gets any higher. But, I always say do whatever you're comfortable with.....your mommy's instinct will know best.

I think a low fever, under 101, is pretty common with teething. [IMG] I agree with the Motrin for overnight, lasts longer, and works better, in my experience. [IMG]

Our office says the same, up to 101 is normal for teething. Above that, it's usually something else.

anything low grade is normal.......I would take them in if it gets much higher. Parker always runs one when he's teething but its always 100.5 or less.
