Introduction

Hi everyone. I'm just a few days 'new' to this site and so far, I LOVE it! I thought I would introduce myself and maybe post some questions when they arise.

My name is Heather and I'm 17 weeks and 5 days pregnant w/twins. We just found out today (via amnio results) that we're having 2 girls. We have a 6 year old daughter as well.

This pregnancy is going well, somewhat. A few discomforts (too much nausea 1st trimester, braxton hicks contractions already, indigestion, etc.), but otherwise, going well.

My biggest concern/fear is that (in a nutshell), my husband and I are carriers of Cystic Fibrosis and b/c of that, did IVF to get pregnant both times. Our daughter was tested via CVS 7 years ago and she's fine. We chose to have amnio for this pregnancy, even though we had them tested w/PGD during our IVF cycle and they came back negative. We're doing the extra testing, as recommended to us by the perinatologist b/c there is about a 2-3% error rate w/the original test. Ugh. Another 10 days and we should know the results. I feel like I can't really breathe a sigh of relief until we find out the results. It's been a bit stressful.

Anyway, just wanted to say hello. I've been enjoying the posts immensely! I'm sure I'll be posting questions very soon.

Hello and welcome! This is a great site, lots of ladies with lots of different experiences. I'm sorry you have to go through the long wait after the tests-I wish you the best of luck. When our second daughter was born she had test results come back a bit off and we had to take her to have the sweat test for Cystic Fibrosis - I had tested negative, but we were told there are so many genes and my blood test only covered the most common. Anyway everything turned out fine!!!!!!!!!!!!But that was the longest 7 days of my life!!!!!!!!! It is so frustrating to wait and cringe everytime the phone rings. Keep yourself busy and try not to worry (easier said than done I know)- Good luck
