at what age did you start the sippy cup? did you give it to them with solids or just let them play with it throughout the day? what did you put in the sippy cup? what cups worked best for you?

The cup that worked best for us was the Gerber starting sippy with the hard spout. It says age 6 months + on it. I put water in it and gave it to them when they were in their highchairs at meal time. I think that any cup that you repeatedly give them will eventually work.

We started using the Playtex First Sipster cups at about 6 months with just water. We modeled how to use it and in the beginning we had to help tip it up but they quickly got the hang of it. We are now using the Munchkin straw cups, again just water, and they can have it anytime they want. We just fill the cups in the morning and keep it nearby so they can drink when they want.

We just started this week and are using the "Think Baby" soft spouted ones. They get them w their formula in it right now and didn't have any problem w it. I just bought the Gerber first sippies today and will give them water in it tomorrow, it's way harder than the think baby one. I also have the Nuby one put away for Easter LOL (My sil gave me the think baby ones after I bought the Nuby ones so that's why I have both!)

I started around 6-7 months with their solids, using very very diluted juice, and I tried the hard spouted playtex ones I had from my older kids, but the babies couldn't suck hard enough to get it out of them. So I bought some nuby and some munchkin soft silicone spouted ones. They liked them both, but the nuby ones were quickly chewed up, they are a much softer silicone than the munchkin ones.

So all in all, I preferred the munchkin ones first, then I found some learning curve ones that are kind of inbetween soft and hard, and now we are back to the playtex hard spout ones, because they are chewing on the soft spout ones and making them leak!

We introduced sippy cups at 6 months, we give it to them when they eat solids, we just put water in them. Matthew is doing great, Brandon not so much. I did the same with my daughter and by 8 months she was a pro and was only drinking milk from a bottle before bedtime otherwise she had milk in her sippy. It takes a lot of practice and patience some kids just get it for some all you need is time. Good Luck.

I started them with water in a sippy around 6 months. But they mostly played with it for quite awhile before they finally figured it out!
