Our pedi told us no peanut butter until 2 years old because of the potential allergy. Is there anyone that introduced it earlier?

Michelle-we were also told age 2 and there are no history of allergies. I know with our oldest DD we got the go ahead at 15 months. I think more peds are just being more cautious now with all the peanut allergies (it's scary to think about that). So we'll try it in February.

We were told to wait until 2 years old as well, and we have no history of peanut allergies. But, by mistake, I gave them peanut butter swirl ice cream and there was no reaction...does that count??

I just did last weekend. I asked the pedi about it, and he okay'd starting it at 18 months because we have absolutely no food allergies in our family.

One of mine really likes it, the other one isn't a big fan yet.

I just did it about a week ago. I waited to make sure my husband was home though in case God forbid something happened. We have no peanut allergies on either side. UNFORTUNATELY, after all the anticipation of trying it, my girls don't like it  Totally sucks. Peanut butter is one of my absolute favorite foods. I am going to try again in a couple of weeks since they say to try foods about 10 times before you give up on it.

OK, I have to laugh at myself. I THOUGHT I was in with the ladybugs, and wrote about my funny morning episode  :FIFblush:  . So, I had to come back and erase it and write that, I occassionally give the boys peanut butter, and they seem OK. I ate it while nursing, so why can't they have it?

    Michelle,
You and I think so much alike. I posted something similar to this a couple of weeks ago. The girls have had PB probably a good month now. They love it. We have no history of food allergies and so far they have done great w/ it. I buy the smooth and only give them a thin layer on their crackers.

My pediatrican said 2 also, so I have been waiting. But! I found out a few weeks ago (maybe on TS) that Chic-fil-A uses peanut oil when frying and mine have been eating their nuggets since they turned one  Even so, I haven't been brave enough to jump into the pb&j yet...

I started at 12 months, pedi didn't say differently. I feed it to them maybe every 2 weeks because it gives them some nasty smelling poo.

started at 12 months with no reaction - however mine aren't "fans" and will only eat it when they are STARVING!

I introduced it at 12 months and they had no reaction. It was so nice to be able to give that to them when we were in a hurry. But like many other foods, they wont eat that anymore!

I'm sure I started the other kids on it by the time they were just over 1. But this time, I'm scared for some reason, so I'm holding off. Just go by instinct maybe??

My pedi said 3 years old for all nuts.

My girls love peanut butter, yes I didn't follow the pedi's rule. We were on vacation in August ( girls were 2 ) and we let them have nut products. Figured most pedi gives the okay at 1 or 2 not 3.

We gave it to them before they turned two. We have no history of allergies in the family. However, I did make sure it was a small amount spread thinly.

I just read in one of my magazines that you shouldn't introduce it until age four. I think that is a little extreme unless you have a history of allergies but what do I know. :unknw:

The girls have been eating Chick-fil-A nuggets and love them. I didn't realize they used peanut oil there. We haven't actually tried to get them PB, but they are always around us when we are eating it.

Mine were introduced to PB&J at 18 months. I was planning on waiting until age 2, but the sitter thought I had already given them peanut butter (we had a conversation about it once and I mentioned possibly trying it around 18 months)...I guess once they hit 18 months, she thought I had tried it.

So, I wnet to pick them up and she's like, 'Well, the girls ate a good lunch, they had PB&J, etc." I just started laughing and said, "Um...are you serious?" She's like, "Yeha, haven't they had it before? I'm SO sorry!" I told her they hadn't but she said there was no reaction and now they have it at least once or twice a week for a meal! they love it!

We have no food allergies in the family, so luckily we didn't have a problem.

Yes, we introduced at about 15 months. I let them try those bite size Ritz peanut butter crackers. We had no history of allergies though in our family.
