I'm going to introduce pasta stars to the girls next. What I don't know is what kind of sauce to make to go with it? I heard some say to put butter for a little sauce and flavor, but what else? Should I make my own little tomato/pasta sauce with a little garlic for flavor? I need ideas from you ladies that have tried it already.

    Thanks! ^_^

I do spiral pasta with my LOs and I use two wedges of the laughing cow swiss cheese, butter and a little bit of milk -- and presto we got macaroni and cheese! They both LOVE it!

My kids just like them with butter, even now at 4 and 2. Sometimes some grated cheese. You could also cook them in chicken broth to give them a different flavor.

I don't think I've ever done pasta stars but I have made pasta for my girls before and put a little bit of butter and a little bit of Parmesan cheese. I also mixed in some broccoli cut into little bits. They love it and I think it tastes pretty good too!

We do chicken broth a lot right now - they love to drink the 'juice' - and it's a nice way to introduce small cubes of cooked veggies, too. Butter, olive oil with a little garlic are both good. I didn't have a lot of luck with tomato sauce right away - I think because I never added sugar to soften the acid. Our babysitter adds about a teaspoon to a can of tomato sauce with finely chopped, sauteed onion in it and the boys lap it up.

What I've done is make up a veggie mix with tomatoe, butternut squash and some cheese and then add the pasta stars after that mixture was pureed, they seemed to like it. :)

my girls will only eat pasta if it has tomato sauce on it. weird. i usually toss a few other veggies in it as well - carrots, broccoli, onion, etc. & sometimes beef or chicken as well. more often than not though, they suck the sauce off of the pasta & leave the pasta on their tray.
