    [SIZE=10pt]Hi there,

    I am on here every day, post on occasion and thought I would introduce myself.

    My name is Melissa and I have boy/boy fraternal twins who are a little over 9 weeks old. They were the result of a clomid cycle. We also have a 25 month old daughter (she was also the result of a clomid cycle in 2004). I didn't find out I was having twins until I was 12 weeks pregnant. I had a pretty good pregnancy, worked until about 34 weeks and delivered at 36.6 weeks via c/s. My boys were both 6 lbs 7 oz.

    When I got home from the hospital after having the twins, it wasn't long before my 2 year old DD came down with a nasty cold. To make a really long story short, the first month post partum was brutal. I ended up getting sick, the twins got sick, etc. I was really sick and really sleep deprived and ultimately, ended up being admitted back into the hospital one month after the twins were born with severe pneumonia and pleural effusion. I stayed in the hospital for 10 loooooong days. It was horrible being away from the twins and my daughter, but I was so sick and had no choice. I finally came home about a month ago and have slowly been regaining my strenghth.

    My husband had to take care of the twins alone while I was in the hospital. My SIL helped him out a bit, but he was pretty much on his own. His brother took our 2 year old for a week. Now that I am home, my husband still gets up for the twins night feeding. Fortunately, they are only waking once a night now, so it's not too bad.

    As if that weren't enough, about 3 weeks ago, I came home (DH was watching the boys) to find David burning up. I took his temp and it was 102! Because he was only 6 weeks or so, they said I needed to bring him to the ER ASAP, which I did. So, because he was under 2 months, had a high fever that wasn't caused by anything obvious (they tested for flu, RSV, etc.) he had to be admitted to the hospital and put on IV antibiotics for 48 hours. I could not believe it!! He seemed fine, but they said that with a baby so young, they have to err on the side of caution, treat it as if he had a bacterial infection, then wait the 48 hours to find out if he does/doesn't. In the end, he didn't and it was most likely caused by a virus, but we still had to stay. I stayed with him in the hospital. It was interesting, being with only one of the babies. It reminded me how much easier it is to take care of ONE baby at a time!! It gave me an opportunity to bond with David and give him some one on one time.

    Anyway, since that happened, we have focused on keeping everyone healthy (as much as one can control that) and trying to rest, but settle into our lives. We've kind of settled into a groove the past few weeks with the babies eating/sleeping schedules getting a bit more predictable. We've been getting out with the babies and doing things as much as possible. Having 3 little ones is definitely challenging, but I can see that ultimately, it will be so rewarding. It's so amazing to watch them change and grow. They are each so different! I had heard many twin moms say that before, but it's so true when you experience it for yourself. William is my pensive one, tends to be a bit more fussy (was crying from the moment he came out) and David is my flirty boy, all smiles. They are my cheeky monkeys and I love them!

    I'm so glad I have a resource such as Twinstuff to look for information on everything related to the first year with twins. It really is a different experience than a singleton and it's nice to have a community where everyone is really in the same, unique boat. I look forward to getting to know all of you ladies over the next year as we share this journey together.

    Wow, you've been through a lot! Thanks for sharing all that... Can't wait to get to know you better. I remember you from the Expecting Forum, we were due around the same time. Our boys are really close in age, it will be fun to keep tabs! We, too, are starting to get into a rythym, and they are sleeping 6+ hours at night, PTL.
    Congrats, they are beautiful!

    Amy -- I remember you too!! Congrats on the boys, they are adorable!! I agree, will be fun to share the journey. :)

    Thanks, everyone, for the warm welcome!!

    No question, the past 2 months have been incredibly challenging, but I'm feeling good about things and looking forward to the future. The boys are smiling and cooing and god, that sure makes all the difference in the world.

    You guys are the best!
