Need a few questions answered please!

The twins are 6 months now, is it time? What flavors/brands do you give them? I worry about too much sugar, so do I dilute? If so with how much water? Is it too early for a sippy, seems like I have read somewhere that you shouldn't give anything in a bottle except formula. How often and how much do you give? In between meals or at meal times? Right now they are only eating solids in the evening (with a bottle), we are still introducing new foods, and they haven't quite gotten the spoon thing down yet. They eat about 6 bottles a day, about 6oz at a time.

    Thanks so much!!

Babies don't need juice. It is just as you said, added sugar. They need breastmilk or formula. I would hold off offering them juice. IF and when you do, dilute. The only juice at that age I would offer is if they had the flu and couldn't hold anything down & then a clear one.

The only juice I have offered so far is apple and only to one baby, the one who always seems to be slightly constipated. [IMG] And I'm only giving it b/c of the constipation. Like Jackie said it's not necessary and adds a lot of sugar to their diet.

    I wouldn't, but that's me! [IMG]

My doc actually said we COULD intro at 9 mos. (6 mos. is too early because you need them to eat other stuff and that's sugar and yum! Could affect your solids intro. You can give them fruit and that'll be even better than juice!)

We still only give a tiny bit of juice if they have diarrhea and my DD spits it back out because she doesn't know what it is. (21 mos.)

It's empty calories and your babies are still growing and need maximum nutrition!

Gosh, so juice sounds like it's not a good thing! I had no idea...I've seen all kinds of juices specifically for babies, and I even got some coupons from nestle (good start) for juicy juice. What would I do without you ladies!!!

    [IMG]Thanks y'all!!

Since it has no nutritional value, the only time we gave juice during the 1st year was when they were constipated and then I diluted it 1/2 juice, 1/2 water. I gave it in bottles because they wouldn't take a sippy.

After 1 year, I gave them juice that was diluted 1/4 juice to 3/4 water in order to get them to drink something other than milk. They were drinking so much milk, it was constipating them. After we got their milk consumption down to 16 oz a day, then I continued diluting the juice until they were just drinking water.
