I keep reading about how people are dialted so many cm and stuff like that. I am almost 35 weeks. They aren't checking me internally EVER. Just at that first appointment where they do the full meal deal exam. Is it common to be getting checked. He started seeing me every two weeks a month ago. When do they start internal checks? They just do lots of ultrasounds becasue of IUGR...number 6 is coming up next week. I hear about a lot of different things people are getting checked for and I see my OB for about 4 or 5 minutes at the exam and then off I go. He measures me and listens to the babies heartbeats and answers questions if I have any. Nothing more. I like this doctor though, other than him being busy he is a GREAT OB.

I did not have an internal exam until like 37 weeks with my singleton. And with the twins, well I didnt go near full-term. But I was checked by the high risk Dr while on bedrest one night because my contractions were really coming hard. But I think they only check if they think there is an issue or if you are complaining of alot of contractions. Plus they can see your cervix during the ultrasound too. Most dont like to check for fear of getting something started.

I'm 35 weeks this week and have been having internals probably since 27 weeks.

My peri starts checking all twin patients at 18w, u/s for cervical length, not an internal exam.

I just saw my OB today and she said if I'm not having contractions that are progressing, then she's not going to do an internal because sometimes that causes people to start having contractions or dilating or effacing. She said she really wants me to make it to at least 36 weeks, so she'll probably do an internal then.

I also see a peri and they check/measure my cervical length with an ultrasound, so that gives her an idea of how I'm progressing also.

Here I am walking around telling everyone that I feel like the babies are going to just fall out at any minute and my cervical length today was 4.7cm!

I've never had an internal exam- ever and this is my third pregnancy. With this pgcy they've only checked via transvag. u/s.

I have never had an internal but my Dr told me I will be getting one next week, a week before I go in to get induced. I have been seeing the specialist for the last 6 weeks, weekly, like you said for 5 mins, they check fluid and HB's and that's it. I have an u/s every 2 weeks to check growth. I'm thanking my lucky stars - cant see that internals would be very nice.

I was seen by a peri and never had an internal till I was 38 weeks. The day before I was induced!!

My OB didn't want to mess with anything down there. I never had a transvaginal u/s either. I had abdominal u/s at every appt.

I had internals via trans-vaginal u/s from like week 20 on...have they been doing vaginal u/s at all?? While I think it would have been more conservative to check you sooner than 35 weeks..at least you are already at 35 weeks and in a good place to have these babies even if you should surprise your docs and go early!! Heck, I'm at 35 weeks with a singleton and just got my first internal this week...so it seems odd that your doc hasn't done one yet...

I have not had any internal exams yet either...then again, I have not had any issues with Pre-term labor, bleeding or anything out of the ordinary. I did have an NST done and the doctor said she would not examine me at that time, because I was not contracting at all.

My dr has never given me an internal however I have had two internal exams, the first one was because I spotted more then usual and I just went in to check it out and they told me to go to emergency where they gave me an internal but everything was fine just a little dehydrated and the second time was only last Thursday when I ended up in the delivery suite with pains but like the first time I was just dehydrated and the babies are fine.

My due date is close to the OP and I have not been checked either. My Dr. did say I would be checked when I have my appt. scheduled at 35 1/2 weeks. I think that is when they do some sort of strep test too. I was told they do not check before that unless you have contractions or problems because they don't want to get anything going in there.
